Wanted: program to compare Gedcoms ancestor by ancestor

Legg inn av Doug McDonald » 11. juli 2005 kl. 19.09

I'm looking for a computer program that compares two files
and reports differences in a reasonable manner. What I want to
do is compare the ancestors of the same person in the two files,
comparing Ahnentafel numbers. "Reasonable" means that if two different
people appear in one spot, with the same number, in the two files,
but none of their anceators will be listed, thus avoiding huge cascades
of differences.

I can do this be hand, but it gets difficult with a large numbero of people.

It's not easy for a computer to do it, since the name of teh same
person can be spelled differently in the two files.

Have you looked at GenMatcher from Mudcreek Software?
http://mudcreek.ca/ Great little program. I compared two files in
about 2 minutes while my cousin took a whole weekend to do it by hand.
Prints up nifty reports too!
