UK Death registration

[Helen Castle]

I have received a death certificate today that is registered in Northampton
for a person who apparently died in Upton Asylum in Chester.

Considering the distance it seems a bit strange - I always thought death
were registered where they happened.

Does anyone know of an Upton Lunatic Asylum in Northamptonshire?

The certificate has two letters after Upton that look like Ch but the
superintendant who signed the cert is from Northampton County Lunatic Asylum
