I have rarely used FTM - however I was helping someone this afternoon who
has ended up with spouseless marriages - can someone tell me how to delete
them?
We took 8 different files of 200 people and put them into one as the user
didnt realise if you have people in 8 different trees you have to update
every files the person appears in so we now have one tree with many
branches.
I merging a person that appeared in 3-4 of the trees we have ended up with
multiple spouses which we have merged as they are all the same but we have
also ended up with marriages that have no spouses but there are children.

This is just a guess, as I don't use FTM, but is there a way to attach a

Re: FTM Question
FTM2005
one trick is avoid merging these big files
====
I just sorted one today
(1) detach children one by one
(2) delete that spouse last
menu >> people >> delete
==========
TIP
I add a temporary surname for any totally detached child l
like Aaaa
so I can find them quickly again to attech
I think FTM2005 is great
just entred about 500 new names in a day and a half from census
so learned a few keyboard short cuts
I seldom use

Re: FTM Question
Thanks for that
Just to let you know why we merged
someone had shown her how to create a new file for each branch of the
family - kept it nice and small and tidy
However, if one person existed in a couple of lines she had to update every
file that person existed in and she couldnt understand why.
To cap that off she commenced putting people in the wrong file and was
confusing herself about who belonged in which file.
She now has a family garden with a few trees but only one file to update.
Some of them are only connected by the multiple marriages of a couple of
people - no blood connections.
I made it very clear that before we did it she would have to check every
single person in the person list and make sure they were right.
