Proposal for new newsgroup: soc.genealogy.shaving-cream

Wow, who would have thought that shaving cream could provoke such passions?

I've always regarded soc.genealogy.computing as a haven of politeness
and reason, unlike some other newsgroups that I read regularly.

If you want to see the less restrained side of Usenet, you should visit
news.admin.net-abuse.email (NANAE) some time. That's where the anti-spam
activists trade information about spammers and their activities, to help
in the ongoing battle against spam.

As you'll have guessed, it also attracts spammers and other kooks whose
style of invective makes you wonder whether they forgot to make their
medication this morning. From time to time, for a little light relief
from reasoned debate, certain unbalanced individuals bomb the newsgroup
with thousands of posts filled with random text. It's all part of life
at NANAE, and it makes the shaving cream debate look like a vicarage tea
party.

Anyway, there's obviously plenty of mileage left in the shaving cream
debate, but it's not strictly relevant to soc.genealogy.computing, so I
propose a new newsgroup devoted entirely to the many uses of shaving
cream in genealogy.

Ladies and gentlemen, I give you: soc.genealogy.shaving-cream.
