Amund Ragnvald Fjortoft (23.3 1899 i Ålesund - død i USA) var sønn av skipsreder Jonas Peder Elias Fjørtoft og Emilie Inga Aageseth. Gift med Borghild Thue (3.4.1899 i Davik-), datter av lærer Botolf Helgesen Thue (1856-1948) og hustru Ingeborg Pedersdatter Maurstad (1864-1934). Barn Edmond Fjortoft (1828-1994), Inge Fjortoft (1930-), Ruth Emily Fjortoft (31.10.1937- 30.4.1991).

Eksamen artium 1918 ved Ålesund skole, utdannet 1922 på arkitektlinjen NTH. Emigrerte 3.10.1923 til Amerika.

Amund Fjørtoft, architect with Shaw, Naess and Murphy of Chicago, is known for his work in the design and construction of hospitals. For some time he was chief designer in the Cook County architect`s office and there supervised all designs of the large Cook County hospital. He was chief designer in the construction of US Army and Air base in Bermuda.
