Is there a way to see the preceding or succeeding pages of a census hit
at Ancestry?
F'instance, I get a listing for Esmeralda Jone to avoid plodding through
4 pages of Tom Jones in New York City. When I click on Esmeralda, she's
the first name on page 89A and I want to know if she's with Tom. How
do I get to page 88B?
[PLEASE don't bother to share your personal opinion of Ancestry with me.
I have free access to both Ancestry and HeritageQuest and have my own
unbiased opinions. (G)]

Yes, the viewer has a back arrow to go to previous image and a forward
arrow to advance to next image. You can go both back and forward as
often as you wish. You can also key the number of an image page if desired.

Page numbers are different from "Ancestry image" numbers. Page numbers
(sheet numbers) are located at top right of each page. Ancestry also
has a viewer with a small window that shows the "image" number.
Ex: You select a particular census year and key in a person's name.
Then you get what I call an introductory page with this person's name
and perhaps some family members and a thumbnail of the census image.
Then you click or double click on this census image to view it in full
view (you can adjust it 50%, 75%, etc. if desired. It is when this
larger census image appears that the navigational arrows and the small
window with the "image number" appear.

Yes, thanks, Lani, I see that, but -- except I don't see any

I'll look again -- it would save me jumping

browsing arrows are on the preview page -- you've clicked on a name from
the list, gotten a page with some of the personal info as well as
microfilm info; but haven't yet proceded to the view image page.
In the top right are the navigation options.
If you're already viewing the image, back up one page and you'll be at
the preview page.

Its been a while since I had my Ancestry acount but I believe the
browsing arrows are on the preview page -- you've clicked on a name from
the list, gotten a page with some of the personal info as well as
microfilm info; but haven't yet proceded to the view image page.
In the top right are the navigation options.
