Og ankommer Ellis island 03.10.1902 med båten "Germanic" fra Liverpool.

Han eldre bror Gustav og hans kone Inga reiste året før ham, og det er mulig han reiser til dem. Han bodde hos dem i Oslo før de reiste til USA.

Den Carl jeg søker er nok ikke Carl som er gift med Aurora.
Det meste stemmer, men det står i informasjonen om eksteskapet stemmer ikke. Carl som gifter seg med Aurora har foreldre som heter Carl og Sarah og dette stemmer ikke.
Carl Johan Adolfs foreldre heter Johan Rasmussen og Josefine Rasmussen (født Omberg).

Utskriften fra Ellis island gjelder den Carl jeg søker. Det står der, som skrevet over, at han skal til sin bror Gustav i Brazil, Indiana.
Jeg vet at Gustav flytter til Chicago senere og blir innrulert i US army til 1.verdenskrig der i 1917. Han bor der med sin kone også i senere folketellinger, men da kun sammen med sin kone Inga.

Ja? All informasjonen jeg har om han er i det første innlegget.

Etter hans ankomst på Ellis island blir alt bare spekulasjoner da jeg ikke har flere spor.

Mulig ting som kan ha skjedd er:

-Han bytter navn som mange nordmenn gjorde i USA, men "Carl" er jo et navn som også fungerer i USA.

-Han gifter seg ikke og dør tidlig. Han var fremdeles i live i 1922 så det må uansett ha skjedd etter dette.

If Carl went to them, it would help to know the town or county they lived in (and if they stayed in Wisconsin!!)

Yes your link to familysearch is Gustav his brother.

Last night I found Gustav in the 1910 census and he lives in Cook County, Chicago with his wife Inga at that time also. (He is registered with the name Gus Rasmusson). Carl Johan Adolf is not living with them in 1910.

I dont have any records of Gustav and Inga living in Brazil, Indiana besides that Carl Johan writes that he will go to them there, when he arrives on Ellis island.

yes, I also found the 1910 record of "Gus" in Chicago...but no Carl Johan.
Can you find Gustav/Gustaf in the http://www.findagrave.com site?
Do you know where /when Gustav died?
If we can find Gustav at findagrave it might give more info about Carl Johan

WW 1 Draft for Gustav? (although there is an error/feil that says he was born in Sweden?)!

The 1920 census says Gustav is a bricklayer..and so does this draft record.

Just more pieces of the puzzle.
Hoping these pieces will help find Carl John.

I wanted to know also...you seemed to say Carl John died soon after his mother died (1922 or later)...is that right?

I have not been able to find Gustav or his wifes grave.
I think mabe that grave is gone. I dont know how the traditions are with graves in the US, but here graves are removed from the cemetary if no one attends to them after 20 years I think.

Gustav and Inga didnt have any children, at least not mentioned in any of the Norwegian or US censuses. Gustav was born in 1874, and if he died when he was 80 years old, his grave has been standing somewhere since the mid 50`s without any close relatives around to take care of it.
I dont know where Gutsav died, but my best guess is in Chicago, where all the records of him is from. Carl Johan wrote that he was going to him in Brazil Indiana, but I have no records of him living there.

Carl Johan died after 1922. When his mother died in 1922 here in Norway,his brother wrote in her death records that her son Carl Johan was living in the US.

Graves/gravestones are not removed here because of time...even if no one is around to attend to them.
And not all grave sites are recorded at http://www.findagrave.com, because they use volunteers to make those records.

I agree, it seems Gustav and his wife should be buried near Chicago.

I think I might have found Gustavs death date.

I serached here: http://www.cyberdriveillinois.com/depar ... index.html

I searched in Cook County Illinois, where all the records I have of him is from, and there is a Gustav Rasmussen who passed away 08.27.1946. This could be him. I did not find his wife Inga though. The search here doesnt give any other data to use except the death certificate number which is 0024806

Do anyone know where I can use this date to mabe find out if this is Gustav Rasmussen born 04.17.1874 in Kristiania (Oslo) Norway?

..and by a long shot, how this could lead me to his brother Carl Johan Adolf Rasmussen?
