Jeg leter etter opplysninger om Nils Petter Mikkelsen, f. 18. april 1875 i Gryllingseie i Løten.
Han utvandret i 1896 sammen med sin mor Karen og sin bror Karl til USA. Etterkommere av Karl har jeg vært i kontakt med, men Nils Petter og deres mor vet jeg ikke noe om.

Karl bosatte seg i Lake of the Woods, Minnesota.

How does "Karl" spell his etternavn i America (Lake of the Woods, MN)?
Michaelson/Mikkelson?? etc...also does Karl use Karl, Carl or something else "over here"...

It helps to find Karl first in the census..then maybe we can find Nils P.

In 1900 Nels Michelson, age 26 is a servant in Cass county, Casselson North Dakota...he is single...working for James ?Hog age 45.

1910 Nels Mikkelson is age 37, single, living in Bottineau county, Newburg, ND..not married
1920 Nels "Meppelson" (indexed spelling is wrong...this is Mikkelson in the census) age 47, not married...living in the same place as in 1910. He is a farmer.

År for immigrasjon er nok til Kanada, ja. Selv om det ikke stemmer helt med at det i 1961 oppgis at han ankom Kanada for 57 år siden, er det svært sannsynlig at det er samme familie.

As you can see by the other topic that five of Karens children emigrated. I have come in contact with descendants of Karl, and have got some names of Emil's side, otherwise they are unknown to me.

Karen also had a daughter from a previous marriage who also emigrated. Her name Antonette Tolline Torvaldsdatter Brandsrud and is listed with destination New York in 1882.

Perhaps no wonder that also Karen emigrated, although two remained in Norway, including my great-great-grandmother.

Looking at this record...I see I read the immigration year wrong in the actual census...it looks like 1890 or 1893...which I know is wrong...
His birth month and year are off a bit too...
So perhaps the wrong fellow?
