I really need some help to find out more information on my great great grandfather maternal side of a Johannes jonson born 24 august 1824 in Nasslebacka Naverstad Sweden he married SIGRID OLSDATTER on 26 Dec 1861 in Ullern Kirke Søndere Odalens HEDMARK Norway they had 5 children that I know of Julius, Olava, Andreas,Emma and Sofie all born in vinger but I do not know when Johannes died I think that Sigrid his wife born 04 Jul 1841 in SØRLI SKAARER SØNDERE ODALENS VINGER HEDMARK NORWAY died 28 Oct 1876 in vinger

can anyone help as I have looked through the archives and found nothing on him

The records when Sigrid died says she had been ill for 3 years. Her husband was still alive when she died in 1876

Vinger and Sør-Odal are two separate parishes, but it is the same region (Odalen Vinger region).
Vinger is east of Odalen, closer to the border to Sweden.

Here is Sigri born 4th July 1841 and baptized 17th October (top left side)
Parents are Ole Hansen and his wife Sigri Svendsdatter.
They live at Sørli under Skaarer

According to the 1865 census Olava was born in Vinger. That is not correct. She was born and baptized in Sør-Odal - Strøm church (no 151)

Have found that Julius and Olava were confirmed in Vinger.
It might be of help to find out if the younger children were also confirmed in Vinger.

Andreas was confirmed October 1881 in Vinger. The family is still living in the same place: Huvenæs.

Emma Amalie born in Vinger 22nd May 1870 and baptized 26th June 1870

Found Sofie's confirmation in Vinger in October 1888.

Will try to look for the death of Johannes. Cannot find him in Vinger in 1900, so either he has died or moved out of the parish.

Have tried to search for the children also on the 1900 census, but cannot find them.

Son Julius lives in Ullensaker in 1892, and baptizes his daughter Anna Sofie in June that year.

When Julius married in Ullensaker in 1891 there is information that his father is living in Eidsvoll. So it was very useful information to find Julius in Ullensaker.
(The information about Julius himself is not quite correct though)

I think it is most probably the Johannes Jonsen, born 1825 in Sweden who died on the 10th October 1893 in Eidsvoll. He is a self-owner and he is married. So he must have remarried then.

Could it be Johannes who dies the 10th of October 1893, and that the minister has mixed up the to Johannes' next to each other in the church records ? (When it comes to who was married, and who was a widower)

His new wife was Jonette Nilsdatter. And he also had a daughter in his second marriage, Sofie Amalia. So maybe Sofie from his first marriage was dead by then..

It is fun to find out. It was Bente Lillian finding the son Julius in Ullensaker and the little notice at his marriage that his father was "now living in Eidsvoll" that was the clue to finding out where and when he died. We don't know when he moved to Eidsvoll. Probably he still lived in Vinger when his children were confirmed there.
