Det er egentlig så langt jeg har kommet. For meg kan det virke som om det ligger noen gode kandidater på ancestry.com, så jeg hadde satt pris på om noen kunne ha sjekket opp. Virker til å være mulig at faren hans har samme navn. I så fall er det fire aktuelle kandidater i emigrasjonslistene fra Stavanger.

Ruth Amelia Jacobson, 94, Huron, died Monday, Aug. 3, 2009, at SunQuest Healthcare Center, Huron.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Salem Lutheran Church, Mount Vernon, with the Rev. Mindy Ehrke officiating. Burial will be in Mount Vernon Cemetery, Mount Vernon. Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. today at Kuhler Funeral Home, Huron, with a 7 p.m. prayer service.

Ruth Jacobson, Huron

Ruth Amelia Jacobson, 94, Huron, died Monday, Aug. 3, 2009, at SunQuest Healthcare Center, Huron.

She was born on July 28, 1915, at Plankinton, to Lars and Inga (Hogstad Erickson) Gjesdal.

She grew up in Aurora County and attended country school at Hopper Consolidated.

On Aug. 24, 1932, she married Olaf Jacobson at Salem Lutheran Church parsonage in Mount Vernon.

They farmed between Mount Vernon and Plankinton until 1956 when they moved to Huron.

In 1967 they moved to Mitchell for 10 years and then moved back to Huron.

She was a member of the American Lutheran Church and the Ladies Circle. She was also a member of the Sons of Norway.

She is survived by a daughter, Joan Domke and husband Arnold, Huron; a son, Dr. Arland and wife Willy Jacobson, Moorhead, Minn.; six grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; a brother, Lars Gjesdal, Mitchell; and a sister-in-law, Thelma Gjesdal, Mitchell.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and five brothers: George, Leonard, Irvin, Marlin and Norman Gjesdal.

Memorials may be directed to the American Lutheran Church, the ELCA Global Missions or Mount Vernon Cemetery Association.
