Searching info on Bjarne Alfred Engmann, b. 1897, em. to Can
I am searching info on BJARNE ALFRED ENGMAN, b. 1897 in Røros, Norway. He emigrated to Canada in 1924 and left behind him wife and two small children. The family did not hear from him later.
Now the two children have passed 80 years and still wonder what happened to their father. They believe he settled down in Red Deer and is buried there. Maybe he has descendants in Canada?
Can you help me find him or his ev. descendants?

Hello
I find a passenger/immigration-card for Bjarne Engmann in 1924. He says his closest relative is wife Karen at "Fandrem, Orkedalen". He says his intentions are to settle in Canada. His present occupation i "labourer" and his intended occupation is "farming" Is this "your" Bjarne?
Looks like he planned to settle permanently. If he managed to do so, maybe his wife didn't want to leave Norway after all?

Hei Tom!
GOD JUL!

Re: Searching info on Bjarne Alfred Engmann, b. 1897, em. to
I have been doing some digging into Engmans in Alberta for Olav with little success.
I noticed this morning that it says Nat. 19/3/43 or maybe 17/3/43 written sideways at the left of the passenger arrival card. So the naturalization would be nice to find, but I don't know where to go.
I live 15 minutes from the Alberta Provincial Archives, but what would I look for?
I can't find anything in Western Canada Land Grants nor CPR Land Sales for Bjarne.
How do we think Bjarne Alfred lived in/around Red Deer?

Here is the arrival record mentioned by Tom. It says his destination was "C. N. R., Winnipeg, Manitoba". This, I believe, is the "Canadian National Railway". That might be another source to check for information about Bjarne.
Another possibility.....
When he left Trondheim on 14 Apr 1924 he was apparently traveling with an unmarried man named Johan Martin Næss (born 1902). Possibly they ended up in the same place.

Johan Næss had the same destination as Bjarne.

Johan Næss from Orkanger returned to his homeplace after some time. I met him in the early seventies and know his daughter and grandchild. I will talk with his daughter.
Maybe she has some information.

In the Alberta Genealogical Society's database - Alfred Bjarne Engman 1897 - 3 August 1976 and Gertrude Engman 1908 - 11 October 1995, both of them are buried in the Red Deer Cemetery, Red Deer, Alberta.
On Ancestry.ca I have found Alfred Engman with his wife Gertrude Engman in Canada, Voters Lists 1935-1980 in 1962, 1963, 1968 and 1974. They are at the same address in a Senior Citizen's residence for all 4 of those years.
The Alberta Genealogical Society's Research Services at http://abgensoc.ca/research.html
could search for an obituary [Nekrolog] for Alfred Bjarne Engman and possibly a Probate Record [Skifterett], both of which would likely provide you with more information about Alfred Bjarne and perhaps about his wife, Gertrude.
Lykke til.

Hei Tom!
Takk for at du viste interesse!
Beste hilsen fra
Olav
