1. Marit (1868-1937) g.m. Ingebrigt Andreassen Stuesjø (1855-1905). De tok over
eiendommen Nordhalla. Barn:
a. Beret, f. 1894.
b. Andreas (1896-1968). Han bodde i Trondheim.
c. Serina (1899-1989) g.m. Ole Larsen Lien. Barn: Sverre Stuesjø (1923-1957)
gravlagt her.
e. Ingeborg (1905-1994), g.m. Ingvald Andreas Reklev (1900-1944). Han døde som fange i
Sachsenhausen. Barn: Ingvald Andreas f. 1943.
2. Ole (1870-1943), ugift, tok over bruket.
3. Kari (1874-1943) g.m. Jon Bersvendsen Østby (1863-1939) fra Nordgarden. Barn:
a. Ragnhild, f 1896, døde etter 3 uker.
b. Ragnhild, (1897-1978), ugift, ble værende heime.
c. Bersvend, ( 1900-1971) ugift, neste bruker.
d. Peder (1901-1983), ugift, tok over garden etter Bersvend.
e. Bernhard, f. 1904, døde etter 3 mndr.
4. Berte, f. 1870, g.m.
5. Ingeborg, f. 1883, trolig død i sitt første leveår.
6. Ingeborg (1881-1935), ugift, ble boende her.

Jenshauggjardet

Hei Reidar,

Takk for ditt utførlige svar!

Ligger denne plassen under Ås?

Ligger Smedgjærdet under Østby?

Svend døde bare to år senere.

Stort takk for øvrig hjelp uansett!

Biografi - Biography

Denne Ole hadde ingen sonner, men to dotre

Sakse beholdt 14 marklag, bruk nr. 1, mens Anders fikk 10 marklag, bruk
nr. 2.

Sakse Henningsen, husbond.
Anne Olsdatter, hustru.
Ole Saksesen, sonn.

Gård nr. 2:
Anders Henningsen, husbond.
Anne Olsdatter, hustru.

BIOGRAPHY
Grdsnavnet forteller at Kirkvold har vrt kirkested. Her sto Tydals frste kirke, oppfrt omkring r 1200 og revet omkring 1695. The farm name shows that Kirkvold had been a church site. Tydal's first church stood here, erected about 1200 and torn down about 1695. The house of worship, however, was not very large. The church foundation, which has been uncovered, shows a building that was barely 7 meters long and 6 meters wide. This gave room for a maximum of 70-80 people standing for the services and kneeling at prayer. This can indicate that there were scarcely more adults in this period of the Middle Ages in Tydal Hvem som bodde p Kirkvold kjenner vi ikke til fr p 1600-tallet. We do not know who lived at Kirlvold before the 1600s. The farm is not mentioned in the oldest preserved tax records from the 1500s, and it had probably been abandoned in the down period after the Black Death. The first operator we knw the name of is Ole Pedersen, from a tax list of 1629. Perhaps he had then just taken over as a new clearer at Kirkvold. In 1645 he was a widower and had a son and a daughter, according to the head tax list. At the cattle tax assessment in 1657, the farm had 1 horse, 14 cows and heifers, 4 goats and 4 sheep = 1 daler 1 ort. Sagnet sier at denne Ole Pedersen omkom under hykjring oppe i Fossbakkene. Lasset veltet over ham s han mistet livet. Traditions has it that Ole Pedersen died transporting hay up in Fossbakkene. The load overturned on him and he lost his life. On a gravestone that is still maintained on the farm, there is an inscription: "O.P.S. Anno 1664" According to oral tradition he was the last to be buried in the old churchyard. After Ole, Jonas Ellefsen from stbyhaugen took over as operator, one of the sons of Ellef Haugen. He was the sexton but the church was less and less attended. Tradition says that the church had become so ramshackle at the end of its time that the priest would rather hold services under open skies. At the end of the 1600s it was torn down and Tydal got a new church at Aune in 1696. Jonas was 45 in 1665, according to the census that year. He probably had a son, Hans, who is listed as the operator in the 1680s and 1690s. Kirkvold was endowment property and the land rent, according to the registry of 1668, was 1 re to the Selbu church. The tax is "Kirchvold, Jonas Ellufsen, leidang 16 skilling. Tithe: barley 1 tnne. Small tithes 16 skilling." Kirkvold was accounted as a half farm with only half taxes because of poor grain harvest, "because it lies under the mountain". The tax was stipulated in grain but that product was not delivered. So it was defrayed in money. There is mentioned in a postscript to the registry of 1668: 'Even though the Tydalings produce little grain, they do feed their livestock, therefore liable to pay tithes through capital assessment.' At the end of the 1690s Jakob Eriksen took over, born 1654, Kirkvold. He was probably the son of Erik Olsen Aas in Ustigrden. Jakob is named as the operator of Kirkvold in 1701. He had a son Anders, born 1695. More is not known of this family. Henning Jakobsen took over as operator after Jakob Eriksen. In 1701 he still lived with his father at stbyhaugen. He was then married and listed as a reserve soldier in the census: Son Henning Jakobsen, 30. 'Married on the farm, reserve soldier.' If we judge by the nickname he was given, 'Long-Henning', he was selected as a soldier because of his size. From the registers it appears that Henning had taken over Kirkvold at the latest in 1712. A few years later this former soldier would really experience war when Armfeldts soldiers came to the farm. 3 ort. The Armfeldt army helped themselves to 28 loads of hay - 14 riksdaler, 1 horse - 5 riksdaler, farm tools - 2 riksdaler 2 ort, clothing and furniture - 14 riksdaler, in all 35 riksdaler 3 ort. This tragedy was probably the reason that Lang-Henning left Kirkvold and settled at Msjdalen in Stuedal. Msjdal was at that time a Sami 'seter' where people lived only sporadically. Henning froze to death up there in 1757, just a few hundred meters from his dwelling. He was the 86 years old. Henning hadde tre snner: Ca. 1704: Sakse. Sakse dde i 1795. Ca. 1713: Jakob, gift med Kari Hansdatter Fossum. Jakob dde i 1782. Ca. 1714: Anders. Anders dde p Kirkvold 11.05.1790, 77 r gammel. Henning had three sons: Ca. 1704: Sakse. Sakse died in 1795. Ca. 1713: Jakob, married Kari Hansdtr. Fossum. Jakob died in 1782. Ca. 1714: Anders. Anders died at Kirkvold 11.05.1790, 77 years old. Sakse and Jakob were too young to take over the farm when their father moved to Msjdalen. In 1721 and 1727 there is named a new operator by the name of Jon, but we do not know where he came from. That Jon had a son Ole who had two daughters, both named Anne. The two sisters married the brothers Sakse and Anders. They thereby came back to Kirkvold and in 1743, the Kirkvold farm was divided between them. Sakse got that parcel that later got the sub-farm no. 1 whereas Anders got the sub-farm no. 2.

64 Oluff Ellefsen Ostbyhaug. Born in 1591 in Norway.

BIOGRAPHY Sjursgarden is the fourth and last farm that was separated from the original stby farm of the middle ages. The first register (cadaster) that mentions this farm is from 1668. The farmer was then called Eivind Sjursen, and he is mentioned together with Ole (Oluf) Ellefsen at stbyhaug. Probably these two lived in the same farmyard but each with his own household. It is reasonable to believe that Eivind had come to the farm as a son-in-law. Eivind Sjursen. Eivind Sjursen was born about 1630 and probably the son of Siffuer(Sjur) at s, who is named in county accounts from 1620 and 1645. We do not know the name of the Ole Ellefsen's daughter that Eivind was probably married to. From a census in 1701, however, we know that Eivind had a son called Sjur and that he was then 32 years old and a married reserve soldier. Both Eivind and his wife were still alive in 1711. Sjur Eivindsen. Sjur (ca. 1669-1759) had according to the "boot tax" list of 1711 at least one child. It was Sjur Eivindsen who built on the new farmyard, and the farm has received its name after him. According to the draft farm registration report of 1723, the farm had now had become such that it could support a horse, 10 cattle and 13 small livestock. The sowing was 1 tnne barley and the hay harvest was assesed at 60 loads.Sjursgarden was now assessed at 1 1/2 re, the same as the other three stby farms. The name Lovoya comes from an island because the Tya (river) splits here and the farm lay on the island. The old river course still shows where the the original farmyard lay, about 150 meters southeast from the present farmyard. That place is still called Gammelgarden (the old farm). The farmyard was moved after a fire but it is unknown when that took place. Lensregnskapet forteller at Lvya hadde vrt bossatt tidligere, men stby-brukerne hadde i lang tid brukt omrdet. Garden m imidlertid ogs ha ligget de lenge, siden Kongen hadde tiltatt seg eiendomstretten. The place has had definite occupation from times before the Norwegian Middle Ages. When Gerhard Schning was on his travels through Tydal in 1773, he saw several mounds which he interpreted as grave mounds. Later excavations proved that they were grave mounds, and there was found a sword and several arrowheads, dated to the period ca. 800-1050. During or after the Black Death the farm was, however, abandoned and Lovoya was used as a seter under Ostby, lease fees paid to the Crown for 9 marklag on Lovoya. The fief (county) accounts tell that Lovoya had been occupied earlier but the stby farmers had long used the area. However, the farm must have been abandoned for a long time since the Crown had taken over the ownership rights.

Both Ostbyhaugen and Gammelgarden were now driven together for a period, and the registries of 1712 and 1714 they are listed as one farm. Ole Eriksen lived at Ostbyhaugen while Jens Jonsen lived a Gammelgarden. From 1721 Jens is shown as sole farmer of Gammelgarden. It is somewhat uncertain who this Ole Eriksen was. Together with him at Ostbyhaugen was a Jon Olsen. From all evidence they were father and son and both were presumed to have come from Aas. Ole could have been a brother of Ole Eriksen (b. ca 1650) at Ustgarden. Another possibility is that Ole Eriksen at Ustgarden was the same Ole who took over Ostbyhaugen. In that case he must have been married twice, The first time with Kjersti (or Kirsten), see Ustgarden and the second time with Anne "from Ostby." Her origin is uncertain. After Ole's death about 1720, the registry of 1721 states that a widow ran both Ustgarden and Ostbyhaugen. According to tradition it was this Anne and her daughter-in-law Ingeborg who were taken along as hostages by Armfeldt's soldiers during the retreat over the mountains at New Year's 1719. Ingeborg had recently had twins. She and Anne were released up in the mountains the first day and came home safely. But a brother of Anne's, probably Lars Jonsen Ostby froze to death at Essansjen along with manyof the soldiers who had forced him to be their guide. The soldiers had helped themselves to everything they could find of food and equipment at Ostby and from Ole Ostbyhaugen, according to the damage appraisal, they took 8 tonner barley, 30 loads of hay, 1 horse, 9 cattle and 17 small livestock in addition to farm tools and clothing. The damages were assessed at 94 riksdaler 2 ort in all. Anne and Ole had as far as we know these children:
1-Jon (died 1760) the next farmer and married twice, see below.
2-Einar (1702-1791) married Ingenorg Larsdtr., see Lovsen.
3-Erik (1705-1773) married Ragnhild Larsdtr. Stuedal (1721-1793) See Stuedal Nedre.

20 Halvar Eriksen Aas. Born in 1660 in Tydal Sor Trondelag Norway. Halvar Eriksen died in Tydal Sor Trondelag Norway, bef 1718; he was 58.

Aas Nordre (Halvorsgarden), g.nr. 172, b.nr. 1, Tydal Book 3, pgs. 346-48:

Halvorsgarden is one of the oldest farms in Aas. It is however uncertain when
it came into being and what is was called in the beginning. Sivert and
Esten, who are mentioned in the Ship Tax lists of 1557, were probably from
this farm. These names re-appear later in Halvorsgarden.

In the beginning of the 1600s the operator's name was Esten (Sivertsen). It
is possibly his son, Sivert who is listed as the operator in the tax
registry of 1647 and in other sources from the 1640s and 1650s. Sivert had
one son over 12 in 1645, besides he had a hired hand and a serving girl in
the household. The farm had an assessment value of 2 ore, and the farmer and
the parsonage each owned a half. This property division lasted until the war
years in the beginning of the 1700s.

In 1620 Sivert was fined 6 daler for having "lain with his betrothed woman
Kirsten Arnfinnsdatter". Sivert was "a cripple" , (handicapped), and the
fine was halved because of his reduced payment ability. In addition it was
considered as eased in that Sivert promised to marry Kirsten.

The cattle tax list of 1657 shows that Halvorsgarden supported 2 horses, 12
cattle and 12 sheep. That same year Esten Sivertsen, b. 1624, had taken over
the farm. He lived a long time and is listed in all the sources until the
end of the 1600s.

In a census from 1664, it is not mentioned that Esten had any sons, but the
genealogist Johannes Stuedal suggests that Esten had a son called Grim.
After Grim's death male persons from other families came as operators of the
farm. Halvor Eriksen is first mentioned in the beginning of the 1700s, and
it could be that he had been the origin of the name Halvorsgarden. Before
Halvor came there, there is supposed to be a man called Jon who ran the
farm.

Halvor Eriksen
Halvor (b. ca 1660, died ca 1720) was probably a son of Erik Olsen at
Ustgarden, and married to a daughter of the aforementioned Grim Estensen.
According to a census in 1701 they had these sons:
1. Erik, b. 1690. He is supposed to have run the farm from about 1718 and
for few years, until he turned the farm over to his brother Ole. For unknown
reasons Erik moved with his family to Metlingen in Sweden. See below.
2. Grim (1691-1772), unmarried. He remained living at Halvorsgarden. The
name grim is not common in Tydal. It probably stems from Grom Krogstad in
Selbu, who in 1668 owned a part of Halvorsgarden. Legend says that Grim
Halvorsen had hidden treasure or money at Hoegga, and that he regularly made
trips there.
3. Ole (1694-1730) married Guri Hansdtr. Græsli (died 1754) from Hansgarden.
They took over the farm, see below.
4. Ingebrigt (1698-1777) married Guri Olsdtr. Stuedal (1708-1769), see
Stuedal Ovre.

Erik Halvorsen
Erik's wife is supposed to be called Anne Pedersdtr., and as mentioned, the
family moved to Metlingen in Herjedalen, Sweden. We know they had the son:

1. Halvor (ca 1737-1818) married to Ingeborg Olsdtr. (ca 1748-1837) (unknown
origin). They came back to Tydal and were living with their daughter at
Stuedal Ovre in the census of 1801. Halvor worked as a tailor. Ingeborg and
Halvor had these children that we know about:
a. Anne (ca 1775-1821) married Peder Olsen Stuedal (1773-1822), see
Stuedal Ovre.
b. Ole (1777-1862) married Sollaug Eriksdtr. Tommerås (1782-1877) from
Meråker.Lived at Tommeråsmo 34/3 in Meråker.
c. Gjertrud (ca 1778-1857) married 1) Ole Andersen (Tronset) (1759-1813)
from Selbu. Lived at Litj-Evjtroa (Ner Litjtroa) in Selbu. Gjertrud married
2) widower Reier Andersen (1766-1833) from Framistoggo Kolsetmoen in Selbu.
d. Erik b. ca. 1788, married Kari Jonsdtr. Mebost (1782-1853) from Selbu.
Lived at Kallarstroa 92/4 in Selbu. In affition, it is probable that Erik og
Anne hadde dattera:

2. Ingeborg (ca 1732-1818) married Knut Knutsen (ca 1737-1818) from bakken
in Flora, Selbu. His mother was Beret Olsdtr. (ca 1732-1782) from fossan.
Ingeborg and Knut lived at Nordigarden Tuset in Flora and had these
children:
a. Sakarias (1763-1793). With Kari Olsdtr. (ca. 1764-1854) from Brendåsen
(Vestre) he had a daughter Ingeborg (1786-1863), gmarried to Ingebrigt
Ingebrigtsen Nessmelan (ca. 1780-1856), lived at Melan 116/3 in Flora.
b. Jon (1766-1810), married to Ingeborg Jonsdtr. Almås (ca. 1764-1834)
from Alen. Her father was possibly that Jon Halvorsen who was recorded as a
renter at Lovoya in the census in 1762. Jon og Ingeborg lived at Nordigarden
Tuset in Flora.

Erik was the operator of the farm during the damage assessment after the
Armfeldt army's destruction at Christmas time 1718. In Halvorsgarden the
Swedes butchered 1 cow and 6 sheep. A farm this size must have had more
livestock, and the reason more were not slaughtered was perhaps that they
managed to lead some of the livestock into the woods before the Swedes came.
As well, the Swedes took 1 horse, 6 tonne oats, 14 loads hay and some
clothes. I addition some equipment was burned or destroyed. The damage was
assessed at 43 riksdaler and 2 ort. There was no talk of getting any
compensation, only 2 years tax exemption.

The farmer was thereby ruined, and like most of the other farmers in the
parish sell his part to the landowners in Trondheim, who were interested in
getting timber from Tydal for their sawmills. The parsonage kept its half as
before. Thereby the farmer became a tenant, completely. The Registry of 1723
shows that the farm now had 1 horse, 9 cattle and 11 sheep The sowing was 1
tonne barley, and a normal hay harvest was 66 loads.

abt 1685 when Halvar Eriksen was 25, he married Mrs Grimsdatter in Norway.

21 Mrs Grimsdatter.

22 Ole Knudsen Stuedal. Born in 1666 in Roros Norway. Ole died in Tydal Sor Trondelag Norway, in 1720; he was 54.

Page 15-16

Johan Johansen was at Stuedal until 1700 or the beginning of 1701, when he
was replaced by Ole Knudsen (cf. the census of September 1701). Acording to
the church book for Tydal Johan Johansen's wife Ingebor Studal was on Sunday
after Christmas 1699 a godmother to Ole Fossum's child Beret. Johan
Johansen moved back to Roros, where he is found in the census of 1701. In
the mine accounts of 1705 Johan Johansen is listed, with the nickname
Stuedal as a mine worker with a wife, a daughter and a hired hand. In
various public documents from the end of the 1600s concerning Roros there
appears an Ole Knudsen, but in the census for Roros in 1701 he is not to be
found. Therefore one can conclude with certainty that he is the same Ole
Knudsen who in 1701 lived at Stuedal. Ole Knudsen who had moved from Roros
to Stuedal, was a son of a Knud Olsen who in the census of 1701 was 74 years
old, a worker at the smelter. According to the census Knud Olsen had 3 sons,
who also worked at the smelter, Peder 40 years, Johannes 39 and Lars 37
years. Ole Knudsen was 35 in 1701. Knud Olsen's eldest son was probably
named Ole, but he must have been dead, since the youngest son was born and
got the name Ole. Knud Olsen was from Meldal and was sent as an expert
smelterman together with other workers from the Meldal mines to Roros in the
1670-80s, when in Roros there was introduced the same smelting methods that
the Meldal mines had practised with success for several years. Ole Knudsen
was married to Ingrid Olsdatter when he came to
Stuedal. The legend that Ingrid was the widow of a former operator of
Stuedal with the name Matis, has quite certainly arisen through a faulty
guess based on the fact that in the census of 1701 there is listed as a
stepson of Ole Knudsen with the name Jon Matisen, 6 years. The legend is
clearly incorrect. Ole Knudsens wife, Ingrid, could have had the son Jon out
of wedlock, but it is more likely that she had been married to a Matis
Olsen, farmer and worker at Roros Works. This Matis must, according to
public documents, have died in 1695-96, he is not found in any documents
after that time. Ole Knudsen has through acquaintance connected to Matis
Olsen's family. On the 2nd Sunday after Easter 1694 he was a godfather to
Matis Olsen's child, Hans. He was probably born either at the end of 1693 or
ealy in 1694. There is no reason why Matis Olsen's wife, Ingrid, could not
have had a son again at the end of 1695. Jon is listed as 6 in September
1701.

abt 1707 when Ole was 41, he married Ingrid Olsdatter in Norway.

23 Ingrid Olsdatter. Born abt 1661 in Roros Norway.

24 Ole Pedersen Aune. Born in 1651 in Tydal Sor Trondelag Norway. Ole Pedersen died in Tydal Sor Trondelag Norway, in 1731; he was 80.

abt 1688 when Ole Pedersen was 37, he married Ingeborg Ingebrigtsdatter Graesli in Sor Trondelag Norway.

25 Ingeborg Ingebrigtsdatter Graesli. Born abt 1652 in Greslie Tydal Sor Trondelag.

32 Erik Olsen Aas. Born abt 1625 in Tydal Sor Trondelag Norway.

BIOGRAPHY
After Grim a new Erik came as farmer, and he becames the allodial owner of the whole farm. In his time, meanwhile, a little addition of 6 marklag came to the farm's assessment, and this had been owned by Trondheim citizens. This parcel lay at Retskallen down by the river and later came under Thomas Angell's Foundations. The farm's assessment increased therefore, in the second half of the 1600s from 1* re to 1* re. This is probably because the haying fields in the Stuedal region was added to the farm. The register of 1723 shows that the farm paid fully 24 skilling in "meadow" tax for "Stuedal's meadows." Erik died at the end of the 1600s and left at least two sons whose names we know: 1-Ole b. ca 1650, died before 1723. See below. 2-Halvor (ca 1660-1720) It was probably he who came to Halvorsgarden, see it. In addition it is possible Erik had these sons: 3-Jakob b. ca 1654, who was the farmer at Kirkvold in 1701. 4-Ole, the younger b. ca 1665. See Ostbyhaug Ostre. If only one Ole Eriksen existed, then he was likely married twice. The first time to Kjersti (or Kirsten), see below, and thereafter with Anne "from Ostby." According to the registers of 1712 and 1714 there was an Ole Eriksen as owner of Ostbyhaug Ostre and in 1721 both Ostbyhaug and Ustgarden was run by a widow (likely Anne) Ole and Anne are believed to have had three sons, see Ostbyhaug Ostre.

ÅS oSTRE (USTGARDEN)
Earlier name: Taraldsgarden, Ås Sondre
g.nr. 173, b.nr. I
Tydal Book 3
Page 357-358

Ustgarden is one of the oldest farms in Ås and was registered as its own
already in the 1500s. It was then called Taraldsgarden, and the operator in
the last part of the 1500s was called Tarald.

After this the operator was called Ole up to about the 1630s, and he was
possibly a son of Tarald. Judging from the assessment (I 1/2 ore) it was an
average size farm, but nevertheless, there must have been prosperity on the
farm. Ole paid a cattle tithe for all of 11 cattle, and this was more than
on any other farm in Tydal. In 1657 there was only Peder Aas (see Lunden)
that had more livestock. That year Taraldsgarden had 2 horses, 21 cattle and
17 small animals.

After Ole, Erik (probably his son) took over the farm. In 1645 the houshold
consisted of his wife, mother, a hand a a serving girl. Erik had at this
time no children over 12 years.

According to the register 1647 Erik was the owner, but in 1661 Grim Estensen
Krogstad from Selbu owned 1 ore in the farm. Grim is listed as the operator
in the census of 1664, and according to that, born in 1605. Erik is not
mentioned in1664, and Grim has probably married his widow. His ownership
is still 2/3 of the farm's assessment, while his step children own the rest
in the registry of 1668.

Erik

After Grim there came a new Erik as operator, and he became the owner of the
whole farm. In his time, however, there came a little addition to the
valuation of 6 marklag, and this was owned by a Trondheim citizen. This
property (infiled) lay at Retskallen down by the river, and was later in the
Thomas Angels Foundations.

The farm's assessment also increased in the second half of the 1600s from I
1/12 ore to 1 3/4 ore. This probably because some hayfields in the Stuedal
area were added to the farm. The Registry of 1723 states that the farm paid
a full 24 skilling in 'meadow tax' for <Stuedals Engslet>.

Erik died at the end of the 1600s, and he left at least 2 sons that we know
the names of: sons
1. Ole b. ca. 1650, died before 1723. See below.
2. Halvor (ca. 1660-1720). It was probably him that got Halvorsgarden,
see there.
In addition it is possible that Erik had the sons:
3. Jakob b. ca. 1654, who was the operator at Kirkvold in 1701.
4. Ole b. ca. 1665. See ostbyhaug ostre.

If there was only one Ole Eriksen, he was probably married twice. The first
time to Kjersti (or Kirsten), see below, then to Anne <from ostby>.
According to the registries from 1712 and 1714 there was an Ole Eriksen
owner of ostbyhaug ostre, and in 1721 a widow (probably Anne) ran both
ostbyhaugen and Ustgarden. Ole and Anne were supposed to have had 3 sons,
see ostbyhaug ostre.

Ole og Kjersti

Ole Eriksen was married to one called Kjersti (Kirsten). We know nothing
more about her than that she was a widow in 1723. (Erik Olsens widow also
had a lease of 2 marklag in Stuedal Ovre in the first half of 1720, but now
she is called Lidsken.)

Ole had at least 4 children in 1711, but we know with certainty only the
name of one son:
1. Johannes (1691-1756), see below.

Christian and Maren (Aas) Pederson

Maren Aas was born on February 17, 1856 to Svend Olsen Jenshauggjardet Aas and Kari Pedersdatter Brendås on Jenshaugen Vestre in Tydal, Sor Trondelag, Norway She immigrated to America in June 1882, coming to the home of Ole Ingebretson near Lake Park, Minnesota, where she worked for sometime and later worked at Heiberg and Ada, Mn. She had the following siblings:
Ragnhild b.1834 and married to Lars Olsen Stuevold in Tydal.
Ole Jensen Aashaug b.1836, never married and took over the farm in Tydal.
Peder b.1838 and married to Beret Jonsdtr. Østby from Smedgjardet.
Kari b.1841 and married to Even Olsen Østby, they moved to Skultrø in Tydal.
Sigrid b.1843 and had a son with Ole Antoniussen Hars: Svend b.1865
Ingeborg b.1850 and married to Ole Jensen Aas, they came to America.
Anders b.1853 and married to Ingeborg Tomasdtr. Østby from Høglia. They came to America in 1882. They lived in Baltic, South Dakota
Christian “Christ” Pederson was born in Denmark on May 24, 1852 to Peder Christensen and Berte Nelson. Who were farmer‘s in Denmark. He emigrated from Denmark and came to America and settled in Walworth Township. We do not know where he was born, nor do we know when he came to America. Christ was issued a pre-1908 homestead and cash entry land patent on property in Walworth township. He had been there a long time before 1908.
Maren was united in marriage to Christian Pederson on September 22, 1883 and they immediately settled on his homestead in Section 4 of Walworth township. Section 4 is the same section where Walworth Baptist Church is located. Here they farmed the land and became very active in the church.
Maren and Christian were the parents of; a foster son, Peter Ingebretson, who lived with them since 1888. They had no children, but took into their lives the son of Maren’s first cousin, Ole Ingebretson, of Lake Park, Mn. Whose mother, Maren Pedersdtr Lovoen Bergaard born in 1811 was a sister to Maren Pederson’s mother, Kari Pedersdtr Loveon born in 1811. Peter was between four and six years old at that time. Maren and Christ nurtured and educated him to adulthood. He knew his birth family and kept in touch with them. Maren became his mother and his and Mabels children were much loved by her.
Christian and Maren were both charter members of Walworth Baptist Church. They were among the members who met on the 11th of July, 1897 and voted to organize a Baptist church which was to be named Walworth Danish-Norwegian Baptist Church. This church was located quite near to their farm. They were active members and leaders of this church all their lives. They were very well thought of and respected in the community. The farm was near Flom, so Flom was very much a part of their lives. Christian died on October 28, 1918 and Maren passed away on January 22, 1939 at her home in Walworth township. After their death’s Peter inherited the farm in Walworth township, where he farmed for some 56 years. Maren was of a quiet, unassuming character and a devout Christian. She possessed a keen mind and her judgment and counsel were clear, freely given and found good by her neighbors and many loyal friends she had acquired through the years.

33 Siri.

40 Ole Eriksen. Born abt 1650 in Tydal Sor Trondelag Norway.

BIOGRAPHY
A short time after 1701 the farmer at Gammelgarden, Peder Ellefsen moved to Stuedal Nedre.

Ole married Anne.

41 Anne.

80 Erik Olsen Aas.

Tydal Bygdebok
Translated by Olaf Kringhaug

160 Ole Taraldsen Aas. Born abt 1575 in Tydal Sor Trondelag Norway. Ole died in Tydal Sor Trondelag Norway, abt 1640; he was 65.

320 Tarald Aas. Born abt 1550 in Tydal Sor Trondelag Norway.

abt 1574 when Tarald was 24, he married Mrs Tarald Aas in Tydal Sor Trondelag Norway.

321 Mrs Tarald Aas. Born abt 1554 in Aas Tydal Sor Trondelag Norway.

Takk igjen for mye informasjon!

Yes, you should verify with the Church books. I have verified my family line back from this area with the Church books. The information I gave you was from my family sidelines from siblings of my direct family lines.
Good luck in your searches. :D

BIOGRAPHY
A short time after 1701 the farmer at Gammelgarden, Peder Ellefsen moved to Stuedal Nedre.

BIOGRAPHY
There was only one house on the farm, and Lars now added to it in a southeasterly direction. About 1730 Lars built a new first floor and the old house was added on top of it as an attic. The old main building still stands, and it should here be mentioned that the wall under one window in the oldest portion consists of only one pine log, something that shows the size of the pine trees in Stuedal in the old times. After Peder died (probably before 1746) his part of the farm went again to Lars and Ragnhild. We don't know if Peder had children in his second marriage. Lars Oppdaling and Ragnhild had, as far as we know, these children:
1-Ragnhild (1721-1793) married to Erik Olsen Ostby (1775-1773) from Ostbyhaug stre.
2-Beret (1722-1811) married to Ole Pedersen Aune (1722-1790) See Storaunstuggu. In the census of 1762, Ragnhild Pedersdatter still sat with the lease. Bygdebok for Tydal #4, Stuedal Nedre, Andre navn: Negarden page 286 Translated by Olaf Kringhaug

In 1720 when Lars Olsen was 25, he married Ragnhild Pedersdatter Stuedal in Selbu Tydal Sor Trondelag Norway.

27 Ragnhild Pedersdatter Stuedal. Born in 1696 in Tydal Sor Trondelag Norway. Ragnhild died in Tydal Sor Trondelag Norway, in 1774; she was 78.

36 Ingebrigt Tomassen Graesli. Born abt 1608 in Greslie Tydal Sor Trondelag.

38 Per Hallvardsen Talsnes. Born abt 1628 in Sor Trondelag Norway.

abt 1654 when Per Hallvardsen was 26, he married Marit Toraldsdatter Oyen in Sor Trondelag Norway.

39 Marit Toraldsdatter Oyen. Born abt 1630 in Sor Trondelag Norway.

48 Ole Pedersen Aune.

49 Ingeborg Ingebrigtsdatter Graesli. Born abt 1652 in Greslie Tydal Sor Trondelag.

54 Peder Ellefsen Holanda. Peder died in Tydal Sor Trondelag Norway. Born in 1653 in Tydal Sor Trondelag Norway.

BIOGRAPHY
Stuedal Nedre
The new fellow-operator on the farm was called Peder Ellefsen. He is supposed to have been born in Holonda in 1653 and is listed at Gammlegarden in 1701. There his age is given as 48 years. Also Peter is supposed earlier to have worked at the mines at Roros. Peder came to Stuedal about 1701 or 1705, and he had also military supervisory duties for the mining companies at Roros. Actually it looks like he took over Ole Knutsen's duties both in respect to the defence and otherwise. In the military land records he is usually shown alone as the lessee of Stuedal, and in the civil records, where both Peder and Ole are listed, Peder's name is always listed first. Peder is also listed as "legdsmann" (chairman of the group, of neighbouring farms) and it is Peder - never Ole - who serves as assessor at probates etc. About 1710 the farm was divided between Ole and Peder, with 3 marklag each. Peder kept the original farmyard and the old registry number 838 (About 1740, in a new farm list, Ole's part was given the registry number 849, while Peder's part, which was for a period divided in two, received numbers 850 and 851) Even though the farm had been divided, only Peder is named as the farmer at "Stuedalen" in the registry of 1723 ( now with no. 774 and 6 matklag) The livestock is shown to consist of 1 horse, 6 cows, 3 calves, 3 sheep and 3 goats. The hay harvest was about 40 loads. ..,.that Peder presented himself as the lessee of all 6 marklag in Stuedal, when he met as an assessor in the Land Registration Commission in Selbu in 1723. The reason is supposed to be that he wished to secure Ole Knutsen's portion for his son-in-law Lars Oppdaling. However, this did not succeed. The reported livestock, however, seems to have been Peder's own. In 1727 a large part of Crown goods were put up for sale, and the Stuedal farms were now purchased by Christian Angell of Trondheim. The later came into the ownership of Thomas Angell and after his death they became a part of the Thomas Angell Foundation. Peder Ellefsen was married twice. The first wife is believed to have been named Beret, but she was probably dead before Peder came to Stuedal. from that we know they had the children: Ragnhild (ca. 1696 -1774) who married Lars Olsen from Oppdal. He died in 1757. Peder's son-in-law was called Lars Oppdaling. Trasition has it that he came as a seasonal worker to the farm about 1720 and he seems to have been an unusually capable worker. During his stay the daughter Ragnhild caught his eye. When the harvest was over and he was prepared to travel, he came with an offer to Peder Ellefsen to build a "stabbur" before he left. This Peder agreed to. Lars began wood cutting over bt the stream Ma on Monday morning and by Saturday the "stabbur" was finished. In the course of the week he had also courted Ragnhild, and Peder had nothing against getting Lars as kin. It can be stated that the "stabbur" still stands on the farm. In 1724, Lars got the lease of the farm against provision of "kr" to Peder. Meanwhile Peder married again not long after, and the farm was divided in two, with 1 1/2 marklag each to Lars and Peder. We don't know the name of Peder's second wife. Tydal Bygdebok 4, Page 285 Translated by Olaf Kringhaug

Hei igjen,
