I have access at the office to a plotter which can print huge sheets - up to
about 4 metres long. It is connected to a machine which can send it jpeg,
pdf etc files and these can be enlarged from original size to fit the big
sheets. I keep my FH data in Legacy 5.0 and print, at home, charts of
everyone using GenPro which means I have to stick together lots of A4
sheets. GenPro produces a pdf file but when I take this to the machine
connected to the plotter the print size is fixed at A4. I can't install
software on the plotter machine (but could, I suppose, take a machine to the
plotter).
Any ideas on how I might make a file that the plotter machine can enlarge to
the big sheet size? I know this is not clear but someone will understand my
problem and know the solution.

The only reason you are getting an A4 page is because your pdf printer
is set to print to that size page.
In GenPro change the File | Page set-up to 1 horizontal by 1 vertical.
Then change the paper size in your pdf printer to a large size. I've
just tried using the pdf995 driver (http://www.pdf995.com/) and set it
to ARCH E1 which is 42" x 30" but there is also an option for custom
size of paper so you could go larger.
Then print to the printer and you should get a single page in your pdf file.

This looks good except PDF995 then creates a file called output.prn not
output.pdf which Acrobat can't then read. I am doing something wrong, I
know.

click on Print | OK. It will bring up the Pdf995 Save As box and you can
name the file there (the Save type is PDF)

You've clicked on the Print to file option - you don't need to. Just
click on Print | OK. It will bring up the Pdf995 Save As box and you can
name the file there (the Save type is PDF)

John
thank you very much - that worked fine. There was a pause between printing
and the Save as box coming up - I hadn't waited before. Now I have a file
on a big sheet to send to the printer.
