Mari Gudbrandsdatter, born 1829-1831
Hi,
Here is the marriage record for Mari Gudbrandsdatter and Even Christensen - #38
Kildeinformasjon: Hedmark fylke, Ringsaker, Klokkerbok nr. 6 (1851-1860), Ekteviede 1853, side 309.
Permanent sidelenke: http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?i ... _side=-283
As I read it, she was born at Røhr, Ringsaker, the daughter of Gudbrand Jørgensen.
Here she is in the 1865 census:
http://www.digitalarkivet.no/cgi-win/we ... rk=14#ovre
And here in the 1875 census:
http://www.digitalarkivet.no/cgi-win/we ... =4955#ovre
She went to America in 1900 with her son Lars.
I am looking for a birth or confirmation record for Mari Gudbrandsdatter. I think that possibly her father (Gudbrand Jørgensen) is the son of Jørgen Jørgensen, but I can't find any records to prove it.
Mvh,
Brian Gaber

Hello Hans,
Thank you for your reply.
When they left Norway in May 1900 they were heading for Cottonwood, Minnesota. In 1905 they were living in Eckles, Beltrami county, Minnesota.
Do you think this is the correct birth record?

Re: Mari Gudbrandsdatter, born 1829-1831
Yes, this is correct birth/baptism for Mari. Her marriage record gave wrong patronymikon (last name) on her father which was Gulbrand Jensen (not Jørgensen).
Do you have Lars and Mari in a census 1910 ....

Re: Mari Gudbrandsdatter, born 1829-1831
Thank you Brian, did not think of using Christenson as surname. This happens from time to time.
I have acces to several churchbooks fra Beltrami Co but do not know church name og congregation name in Eckles.
Would like to find baptism of Lars's children, his marriage to identify his wife and when Mary died.

Family rumors say Julia was pregnant when she arrived in America on 30 Sep 1903. That would explain how her first child was born 1903. She was originally planning on going to Decorah, Iowa, where her brother Julius lived. Julius went there in 1902 to the home of his uncle, Hans Martinson Amlien.

Re: Mari Gudbrandsdatter, born 1829-1831
Hans,
Julia died in Bemidji, Beltrami county, Minnesota in 1978.
If you have access to church records, maybe you can find something that would show that this is the correct Julia. Everything looks like it fits, but I am missing "proof". I can't finfd birth records for any on the children with ancestry.com or familysearch.org.
The person I am helping told me that Julia was born Sep 1882, was probably from Vestre Toten, that Julia's mother was named Anne Marie Johansdatter and that Julia had a brother named Julius. This also shows that I must have the correct person.
What bothers me is that all census records say Julia, the wife of Lars, arrived in the US in 1901. I can't find a marriage record, there should be one in Beltrami county.

Re: Mari Gudbrandsdatter, born 1829-1831
I'm not too sure about "my" Julia....
The gravestone for Julia Christenson says she was born 27 Sep 1881.
Her 2nd son, Alfred, was born 16 Jan 1904. Since "my" Julia arrived on 30 Sep 1903,
she could not have had Edwin in 1903 after arriving in America, then Alfred a few weeks later.

Margit Nysetvold Bakke found the marriage record for Lar E. Christenson and Julia Anderson in Beltrami county.... the marrriage date was 27 Dec 1901. So I think I have the wrong Julia!
Re: Mari Gudbrandsdatter, born 1829-1831
Thank you Brian. No, I am not related, just interested in finding descendants after people emigrating from Ringsaker.
The Julia from Vestre Toten must be wrong since her surname was Andreassen/Amlien and going to her brother i Decorah IA.
Marriage record Lars and Julie could give more facts on her, perhaps her father's name. The only churchbook I have acces to from Beltrami is Northone. I guess they didi not use that church.
Congregations in Bemidji was Aardahl, Calvary, First, Numore, Salem W but I do not have access to them.
