Hi all,
I have been scanning in pages of Norwegian writings by Martin Ulvestad,
sending them to Olaf Kringhaug and he has been translating them to English.
You can find them online at sites below. They are about different areas of
Canada, Counties in North Dakota, South Dakota and Minnesota and the first
Norwegian settlements. More will be added as translated.
Enjoy.

Hei Hugh!
I did not know I gave you permission to put this on your site? I thought
this list was for genealogy, not critiscm. Must be tough to be so perfect.
You take care of your pages, and I will take good care of mine as they are
and will remain.

I thought Mr. Watkins tried to be helpful... Your initiative is appreciated
by all of us, but his suggestions might make the translations more
accessible.

Regarding the "Norsk-amerikaneren" of 1930, do you know when the author
died?

He sure could, but you did post it in a newsgroup, and discussions on
genealogy websites are - as far as I can tell - on topic as well as
discussions on genealogy itself. If you had posted the
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com ... /flom.html in your first
posting, I guess Watkins wouldn't have made his comments. But let's leave
it at that, it is a trifle really.

The translations are readily accessible here along with lots of other

Ah yes, I remember now that I have seen - and bookmarked - that page before.
Well done.

That must be wrong, Stein Owe. Ulvestad received the Order of St. Olav
in 1923 from King Haakon and was painted in 1927 with that order
according to the other site:
