Genbox question

Legg inn av Retiredff » 15. oktober 2004 kl. 19.31

Using version 3.2.2U.

There is an option to print a chart that has all individuals in the database
on it.

Is it possible to combine two files (I have one with my family, another with
my wife's family) into one, so that I can create a chart with everyone on
it?

I haven't had any luck trying to figure it out.

Thanks,
Larry

Hi Larry.

You can merge 2 files together to give you what you are after. Go into the
Help Menu and enter "file menu" in the Contents section, click on Display.
On the page that opens select Import Data, click on the Import File View
link and this will tell you how to merge the 2 files.

Thanks. For some reason, when I looked at that, I was under the impression
it was combining two entries in the same database.

Or, maybe I am was confused after looking at five different genealogy
programs!

I'll use a couple of backups, and see what I can come up with.

Hi Larry.

If you get stuck, send me the 2 gedcoms and I'll merge them for you.

I appreciate the offer. I managed to get the two databases merged, then
Genbox crashed when I tried to merge the info from the same individual that
was in both databases.

I have not tried to do anything else with it, other then when I opened it
later, a message box popped up offering to repair/compact the file. I said
yes, and it did its thing.

I'll play later, and if it is still causing me grief, I'll take you up on
your offer.

Larry
