Web page design

Legg inn av John » 13. oktober 2004 kl. 21.58

I am a newcomer to web page design and am only looking for something fairly
basic, not too many bells and whistles!
During my search for hosting I have noticed some sites say they cannot support
FrontPage, is this a common problem, is Frontpage that unpopular, if so what do
you recomend. I already have FrontPage and have started my design using it,
should I stop and use something else?
Look forward to your comments!
Thanks
John

What the sites don't support is the FrontPage interface for
upload/download/edit.

If you have an FTP program, you can still transfer the HTML files and
graphics to the web site.

I don't use FrontPage because I don't like the interface or the output
code. Typically Microsoft, they want to "help" me entirely too much -
and put a LOT of garbage code into the HTML.

I've also created pages with Notepad, DreamWeaver (university
standard), and HomeSite (corporate client standard).

Unless you really want to get hands on with Web Design you might check
into RootsWeb. They offer "canned" web pages I believe. I use Arachnophelia,
the older version, 4.0, and started in 1996 with a Sams (PhotoFact) how to
book. At that time I used Coffee Cup until I got tired of it and then
went to Word Pad, then to Arach... . I use Bullet Proof FTP, a great FTP
program: http://www.bpftp.com

Arach: http://www.arachnoid.com/arachnophilia/index.html

I have been using Easyspace as my Web hosting environment for 5 or 6 years,
and they support the use of FrontPage extensions.
