Suggestions for linking maps in Legacy

I have been sent a scan of a beautiful 1843 map of part of Hertfordshire
by another researcher, and I'm trying to figure out the most sensible
way to link it into Legacy.

I know I can associate a picture with a location, but it seems silly to
go and separately link it with every location that appears on it. I
could treat it as a source, or just as a picture, and associate it with
every person that has an event on the map, but that's a lot of linking
and again it seems silly. So far it seems to me that there is no
sensible way to link it at all, and that I should simply treat it as an
external resource. If I make any deductions based on an examination of
the map, then I would cite it as a source; otherwise it's just not part
of the database.

Does anyone have any better ideas? Or comments on how they include maps
in their own databases?

You may wish to consider adding a fake individual to your database called "
Maps ! ". This way you can put the map into the fake persons Scrapbook. I
have several fake people in my database for entering and recording general
information and data. They all have the same surname " ! ". That way they
will sort to the top of the Index of Individuals. Of course if you gedcom
your database or upload it to a web site you have to remember to not include
these fake individuals.

I simply enter it as a Master Source and include the scan in the picture
tab.
