Notes for Erland Anderson Overlie
The godparents and witnesses at his christening were Sevald Nyodegaard, Peder Jorgensen Sveine, Engebret Overlie, Mari Svenhaugen, Thoro Overlie and Marilla Boye.

The witnesses for the marriage were Peder Laingen and Sevald Kjestad. Ragnild's birthplace was given as Norway, but we know that is incorrect.

The 1895 Minnesota census states that he had been in the state and in Butternut Valley for 28 years.

He is buried in row 10, grave 19 (transcription scheme)2; lot 17, grave 10 (official scheme).8

Notes for Ragnild (Spouse 1)
I am assuming that she is the Ragnild T. Kjestad who was confirmed at the Linden Lutheran Church on 20 November 1887, "Daab bevident op Toraldrene." She is listed just after Ragnild Kjestad, b. 18 Oct 1872, the daughter of Sevald Kjestad.

Her death is listed in the Watonwan County death index, so it seems likely that she may have died in Madelia. That is where a number of the Overlies were living. It is not precisely clear why I had her death listed in Blue Earth County unless it was because the burial was at the Butternut Valley Lutheran Cemetery.

She is buried next to her husband in row 10, grave 18 (transcription scheme)2; lot 17, grave 9 (official scheme).8

I see that they call themselves Overli, and it could be a good fit, for those people are coming from the farm “Nordre Øverlien” in Lom.
