of essex and to the gardeins of the landes ten’te and possessions of the
same Schole\ all that my late maner or grange called Chigwell grannge withe the
app^e^ten^a^ure\ in Chigwell in the said countie of essex withe all the
londes tent’te rentes rev^r^tions\ and services liberties ffrannchers and
priveliges therto belonging and allso one\ messiage withe a curtilage adjoyning one
cottage with a garden and one\ orcharde withe the appurtem^a^ures in
Brentewood sometime of Richard Nytingale to\ have and to holde to the said
scholem^r^ and Gardeins and to their successo^rs^ for\ ever as by the sade writings
may appeare My will ys that the said M^r^ and\ Gardeins shall have holde and
possesse the same mano^r^ grannge and other the \ premisses in the last saide
writinges specified to them and their Successonres for ev’\ to suche uses
purposes and intentes as in the same writings and by other writinge\
constitutions and ordin^a^nces made and to be made and declared as and shalbe me’coned\
and declared And Because there is yet no conveniete place appointed to kepe
the\ said schole in nor apte place for the habitation of the Scholem^r^ that
there shalbe\ and remeyne I do therfore by vertue and ructoritie[?] of
sufficient lycnce therfore had\ made and grannted under the greate Seale of Englande
give will and bequeathe to\ the saide Scholemaster and gardeins and to their
Successo’res for ever All that the\ Capitall messuage withe the Curtilage and
garden therto belonging called Redcrosse\ with the App^r^te^a^nnncis[?] in
Sowthwelde in the saide Countie of Essex and also one Close\ called the
Conygre conteynyng by estimation ffowre Acres adjoyning to the saide \ messuage and
lying northe from the saide Redcrosse And the northe ende thereof\ abutte
the uppon dinnynge wode percell of my manno^r^ of Costehall whiche Redcrosse\
and Conygre I latelie purchased of Henrie Becher Citizon and merchannte of\
London To have and to holde to the saide Scholemaster and gardeines and to
their\ Successors for ever to suche uses and intentes and according to such
orders statutes sub-\ ordinnces and declarations as by me my heires or executors
be and shalbe declared and\ appointed And allso I doo give and bequeathe to
John Lyttell my s^r^vannte my Personage [*]\ of Dagenham withe the
App^e^ten^a^uces in the Countie of Essex excepte the Patronage\ of the vicaridge thereof
for the terme of twentie yeres paying yerelie duringe the\ sayd terme the
rente of twentie and ffowe Poundes at the ffeastes of ester and S^t^\ Michaell
the Archangell by evin portions the Rev^e^tion and remeynder thereof w^th^
the\ saide rente and fyve severall Tenemetes in Sowthweld aforsaide nowe or late
in the\ severall occupations of John Scott Thomas Barnes widdowe Reynolds
Widdowe farbbel\ and widdowe Mergarett I doo give and bequeathe to the saide
Scholemaster and gardeins\ excepte the Patronage of the vicaredge thereof To
have and to hold the saide\ Personage and the saide rente and the reverting
thereof excepte before excepted to\ them and their Successoures for ever to
thintente that withe the yssues and proffitte\ thereof they shall fynde fyve
poore ffolkes in Sowthweld by me during my lief And\ after me By mye __ wief
during her lief And after her by Dorothe hudilston\ during her lief and after
her by suche persons and their heires as shall enjoy and\ possesse the
stituation of my manno^r^ of Sowthwelde to be from tyme to tyme for as\ named and
appointed and in suche manner and forme as by me and my executo^rs^\ shalbe in
writinge mencioned and declared [*i] And where my sayde wief is joyned\ w^th^
me for terme of her lief in the saide Mano^r^ of Sowthwelde w^th^ the
app^e^teyn^a^ce
and in the personage of Sowthwelde with thapp^e^tenn^a^nce in the countie
of essex and also in\ the manor of Costehall ^[margin] als costed hall]^ withe
the app^e^tenn^a^nce in the saide Countie of essex and in the ffayre and\
in the market in Brentewood in the saide Countie and in the mano^r^ of
Calcott als Caldcott\ withe the app^e^ten^a^unnces in Sowthweld Shenffelde and
Duddinghurst in the saide County\ of essex and in the mano^r^ of Churchehall in
pakelsham and in Londes and tenemente calles\ greate Bygen and Little Biggen
in muche Stanbridge in the Countie of essex and in the\ mano^r^ of
Cokermouthe in Dagenham withe the appurte^a^nces in the saide countie of essex\ as by
writings of the purchass thereof severallie more at large doo and maye
appeare\ And where also a messuage withe an Orchard garden and Curtilage thereunto
adjoyninge\ in Brookestrete whiche of late was the ffree Chappell therewithe
an hundred acres of\ lande meddowe and pasture or thereabowtes comonlie called
or known by the name of Spyttell\ landes, or Chaintre landes in
Brookestreate w^th^ the app^e^tein^a^nces in Sowthwelde and\ Brookestrete in the saide
countie of essex and late in the occupation of Thomas Cappes\ decessed excepte
one ffelde thereof called Styleffelde W^ch^ Stayleffelde ys in the
occupation\ of me the said Anthonye and diverse and certen rentes belonging unto the
same weare coveyed\ to me the said Anthony and to my saide wief and to my
heires as by the writinges thereof\ also may appeare My will disposition and
intente ys that the saide writinges and coveyn^a^nces\ of the saide manors and
other the premisses, and the states and limitations of the Man’s Londes\ ten’ts
ffranchesus liberties privelege benefittes and comodities in the same
writings me’tioned\ and conteyned as towarde or touching mye wief for her lyves
tyme shall cotynewe and\ stande in full strengthe force and vertue And ffurther
that mye saide wief shall have\ holde and enjoye for terme of her lief
withowte ympechemete of any maner of waste\ the saide manor of Sowthweld and the
saide personage of Sowthweld and the saide manor\ of Costedhall and the saide
ffayre and merkett in Brentwood and the said manor of calcote\ als Caldecote
and also shall have and holde duringe her lief chargeable withe waste the\
saide manors of Cokermouthe and Churchehall and the landes and ten’ts called
grete Bigon\ and Little Biggens aforsaide and the said message and Spittell
Lands ffree chapel\ rentes and Stylesfelde withe the appurten^a^nces and I doo
give to my saide wieff duringe\ her lief all my mano^rs^ londes and ten’ts in
Sowthweld Cokermouth Dagenham and\ Pakelsham in the saide comitie of essex And
I doo give will and dispose further that\ after the deceasse of mye saide
wief all my saide manors personage landes ten’te and hereditaments\ withe the
appurten^a^nces in Sowthweld Brentwood Brokestrete Sheniffelde and
Dodingherste\ in the Countie of essex shall remeyne and be to me the saide Anthony Bronn’
and to the\ heyres of the boddie of me the said Antony Bronn’ larfullie
begotten And If I the saide\ Anthony Bronn’ shall fortune to deceasse witheowte
heires of my boddye lawfullie begotten\ Then after the deceasse of mye saide
wief all my saide manors londes ten’ts and hereditamnts\ shall whollie coome
remeyne and be to the saide Dorothe nowe wief of Edmunde hudleston\ esquire
for terme of her lief and after the dethe of the saide Dorothe the sayde
Manors londes\ ten’te and hereditamets in Sowthweld Brentwood Shenfeld and
Dodinghurste shallwholy\ coome be and remeyne to weston Bronn’ sonne and heire of my
neveye George Bronn’ my\ Brothers sonne for terme of lyef of the saide
weston the sonne w^th^owte ympechemete of anye\ manner of waste and after his
deceasse the remeynder thereof to Antonye Bronn’ my godsonne\ the first sonne of
the boddie of the saide wiston the same and to the heires males of the
boddye\ of the same Anthonye the sonne lawfullie begotten And for defalte of such
heires the remeynder\ thereof to the seconde sonne of the saide wiston the
sonne and to the heires males of the boddy
