Hi Listers,

I am descended from OSBWRN WYDDEL (OSBER, OSBORN FITZGERALD ) progenitor of
many famous Welsh families like the Vaughans, Wynnes and Yales.

OSBWRN is reputed to have married the daughter and heiress of the old Welsh
family of Corsygedol and was said to have been the ward of LLYWELYN FAWR
(LLYWELYN THE GREAT).

Can anyone tell me who she was and the name of this ancient family? I have
'googled ' in vain in English, Welsh and Spanish because he is sometimes said
to have married AGATHA PRINCESS OF CASTILE (AGATA or GADEA PRINCESA DE
CASTILLA Y LEON ).
Thanks. Diolch yn fawr. Muchísimas gracias.
Phil Jones.

The first thing to ask yourself is *why* would a Princess of Castile
(and Leon) marry a person of no useful standing ? An unknown Welsh
family would not figure highly in the matrimonial plans of her parents
for her, when there were several dozen continental princes already
running about.

Then you can tell us what source tells you who Osbwrn married at all.

Llewellyn died in 1240 and according to the pedigree of Agatha on
http://www.penrose.org/getperson.php?pe ... ee=penrose she
was not born until abt. 1251, so would not have been his ward. This
pedigree also has the birth of Osborn as abt. 1240, which means that
his wife would not have been the ward of Llewellyn at the time of the
marriage.
None of the written pedigrees name Osborn's wife and there is some
conjecture as to when he came to Wales - see
http://www.celt.dias.ie/publications/ce ... 21-620.pdf

I have one pedigree that gives a detailed descent from Gerald de
Windsor and Nest to Osborn (wife not named), whereas other pedigrees
simply start with Osborn, which suggests that there is no real
evidence about his wife.
