According to the will of Thomas Stanley, 1st Earl of Derby [Testamenta
Vetusta, p 460], his grandaughter Jane Stanley, daughter of the Earl's
son and heir apparent George, called Lord Strange, had been proposed
as a bride for "Henry Clifford" as at July 1504.
Who is this Henry Clifford? Was it the one of this name [see ODNB
entry], born c1493, died 1542, afterwards 1st Earl of Cumberland?
Any suggestions or comments welcomed.

Unless you are also proposing that she and Henry Clifford divorced ?
Thanks

She is indeed the same; I am proposing that she and Henry Clifford
never got married. Her grandfather in his will of 1504 left 100 marks
to Henry Clifford "if he married Jane". Assuming my identification is
correct, it seems he did not. Things might not have proceeded as far
as a marriage contract. She was married to Robert Sheffield in 1521,
when her brother made his will, and as you note, her son was born in
1521 too. It seems he was her own child - certainly the only one I
know of.
I am still working on her likely birthdate.

I should have been clearer in this: she was married to Robert
Sheffield *by* 1521, because in his will of 1521 her brother names her
as 'Jane, wife of Robert Sheffield, esquire'. I do not know the date
of their marriage, just as I do not know the date of her birth.
I have been looking at her line recently in connection with a case
that seems to involve genealogical fraud.
