M Hollick,
Thank you for your timely response and for including sources for me to pursue. I shall have our #1 daughter (county librarian) check what is available locally and see what we can get through inner library loan.
Re the ALLERTON line, I am confused. I have a Sarah ALLERTON (1588-1633) said to have first married John VINCENT (later (2) Priest and (3) Godbertsson) and it is their daughter, Sarah VINCENT, who married William DEXTER.
Sarah ALLERTON and her brother, Isaac, came to New England from London. Their parents were Edward ALLERTON (1555-1590) and Rose DAVIS, (1559-1596). They were married (1579/80) in St Dionis Backchurch, London (Edward's father, William ALLERTON was b 1529 in Middlesex England.). It was Edward and Rose's daughter, Sarah ALLERTON (1588-1633), who married John VINCENT, and their daughter, Sarah, who married William DEXTER. Are these names and dates in question? .
I, too, am descended from William DEXTER and his wife Sarah VINCENT. I've very little on this line: I've read that Thomas DEXTER was William's father. In 1653 he, with others including John ELLIS (also an ancestor) entered into an agreement on "whales" in Sandwich; in 1672, he with others (including Edmond FREEMAN, another ancestor) were on a committee to set "boundries."
I have an incomplete list of William and Sarah's children: "Mary" married, in 1684, Moses BARLOW (another ancestor, Nathan BARLOW, was brother to this Moses-Nathan's daughter Prudence, married Nathaniel LANDERS, another ancestor); and "Stephen" DEXTER married Ann SANDERS in April 1696. It was Stephen and Ann's daughter, Sarah, who married Silas BRIGGS (1730) and hence, into my BRIGGS' line.
Aside from Benjamin, your ancestor, do you have the names of any other siblings of William and Sarah? Do we have any other crossing lines? They all seem to be tangled up somehow. Isn't it interesting!

M Hollick,
Thank you for your timely response and for including sources for me to pursue.
