Old phone books

Save that I work in a local history /genealogy section of a large public
library. We have every year back to 1930 for our local phone books, and
spotty back to 1913.

And they are used by genealogist and historians. The general reference desk
does not keep the old ones- they discard them to us.

Krautwurst sound like a nickname :-)
Wurst Mit Kraut / German Deli << Kraut und wurst

too many people in usenet just guess and make assumptions
(creating brickwalls in their family trees too)

get out in the real world
visit archives and libraries
get your fingers dusty

the best stuff about your family is not on line
and may be not even indexed but in a box of uncatalogued mss in an
archive - or in an attic :-)

NY Public Libraries - the main one - is one of the worlds greatest
libraries famous for mss
and I bet they have a dream of a local collection
