Otto is one of my gggrandfathers who was born in 1843 in (Tidre Vestre) Skatval and travelled to Australia via Aberdeen arriving in Melbourne on the Southern Empire in 1864.
He came on New Zealand a couple of years later ariiving in Hokitika on the West Coast of the South Island.
I would love to know exactly when he arrived and what he did.I do however know he subsequently went to Palmerston North where he settled.
Otto was one of 9 boys in the family. Two died early and the others all emigrated to the United States

There are several passenger lists for ships arriving Hokitika during this period, but I am not able to find Otto. It appears to be frequent sailings between Melbourne and Hokitika at that time and most of the passengers were miners. Maybe Otto also was looking for gold before he moved north to Palmerston North.

Alan,

According to New Zealand Marriages 1836-1956, Otto Tiller married Mary Sorenson in 1875.
