Epidemic in 1773

Hello,

I'm very tired but not able to sleep after watching the Oslo tragedy unfold today. My thoughts and prayers are with the families and citizens of Norway. I am very grateful that my family members are safe; save the earthquake in Elverum the day before.

I am verifying records in the digital archives and came across pages of burials. I am not familiar enough with the history of this area. Does anyone know what happened?

There was a plague that affected the entire fylke. I did some research and wrote an article that appeared in the ekko a while back. Deaths were 4-6 times higher in 1773 than in the previous 4 years Aasnes, where most of my Solor ance...stors originated was also affected with nearly 5 times the usual number of deaths. The unusual thing is the number of people affected in the 10-50 year age group. I discovered that in the previous 4 years this group never made up more than 25% of the total number of deaths, but in 1773 they constituted more than 50%!
