FYI: Firefox/Acrobat

Legg inn av Everett M. Greene » 13. oktober 2004 kl. 19.18

A few days ago I mentioned that I was having trouble with
Mozilla Firefox saving PDF files and it would not download
Adobe Acrobat. I stil don't know about Firefox saving PDF
files correctly, but I did get an update and will see how
it behaves in this later version.

I did find out that Firefox and Adobe's download manager
do not get along. I resorted to using IE and was able to
download the 31 Mbytes update to Acrobat 6.0. A quick
look at this later version finds that it does nave a
"save" menu item unlike Acrobat 4.0.

Everett,
As a result of your message I d/l'ed Adobe 6.0 and installed it. V5.1
worked fine but I see more and more comments about "needing 6.0...".
I can't get it to render a PDF file in FireFox so posted a message on
the Secnews.netscape.com NG, netscape.mozilla.firebird. All great sources
of help on Mozilla products.
I used the FF dowload utility.

Couple of helpful messages from "Champions" suggested reading:
http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox ... ml#acrobat
and
http://plugindoc.mozdev.org/faqs/acrore ... ll-windows
and upgrading to 6.02 as you did. I'm doing the d/l right now.
I may go back to 5.1.

Don

Further comments:
I didn't really use the above links for anything but a d/l of
the 6.02 update, it was a lot easier than finding the d/l on
Adobe's Web Page--at least for me.

I tried to install the update, and it told me I didn't have
V6.01. So, I simply re-installed, Repair, V6.01. After that
the 6.02 update installed. ???

I opened FF and was able to load a PFD from my HD so I 'assume'
it will work on an Internet PFD source.

I hope all this yadda is understandable and works for you.
