FTM 2005 - IE6 requirement

Legg inn av CM Research Services » 1. oktober 2004 kl. 23.06

The requirements spec for FTM2005 includes IE6.

Is this needed for off-line genealogy functionality, or only for
internet stuff? Would Mozilla do, for example?

One of the comments following up the Dick Eastman review of FTM2005
suggests that it uses one of the .dll files from IE6.

One way to find out is to try it. I have Mozilla, but I couldn't test
because I have upgraded & installed IE 6.00 on my system and don't have
FTM2005 (or any intention of buying it). To test, install Mozilla &
FTM2005 on a WIN98 system for example that would have IE (it's hard to
escape having it on a Windows system), but it would be an earlier
version than 6.00.

Funnily enough, that's the "real" system I'll be using... but
splashing out if it won't work is what I'm trying to avoid. As also
is installing IE6.
