FTM 2005 - some questions

Having read the company web site (and that of a re-seller of FTM in the
UK) I'm not much wiser about the benefits I might gain from upgrading.
There is a lot of web-related material that has no value to me as it is
US-centric, but I can see nothing that suggests it (v2005) is any way
better than my antique v8 copy - oh, sorry, a new main screen has been
provided.

If I decide to buy on line, why would the US company demand my phone
number. Is someone going to call me?

And is there a postal tax for sending a CD out of the US to a foreign
land? What is it, does everyone charge it (no one has charged me for it
in recent months) and how much is it?
