I have searched high and low for Gordon Leslie Walker....
I have his birth and death dates and places, but I can't find actual
information about him. I was told that he was born in 1920 in Hamilton,
Ontario, Canada, and that he died in 1975 in Manatee, Bradenton,
Florida...... He did get married while in Florida, and even adopted the
woman's daughter, B.J. Walker.... Any information would be much
appreciated.....

Jody,
I found a hit in the SSDI that is probably who you are looking for:
SSN : 579-09-5030
Name: Gordon Walker
Born: 30 Dec 1920
Died: Feb 1975
Last Residence: 33505 (Florida)
Last Benefit : (none specified)
Issued : District of Columbia
The 33505 zip code is not found when searching through the
http://www.usps.gov web site. However, in doing some Google searches, I
discovered that 33505 is used as a zip code for the following towns in
Florida: Marathon, Bradenton, Tampa, Fort Meyers, and Bay Pines. The
good news is that Bradenton is the most common (and is in the Tampa Bay
area), so it's probably just a discontinued zip code. (Also, based on
the information you provided, I started looking for Manatee, Bradenton
Co, FL, USA when in fact it is Bradenton, Manatee Co, FL, USA.)

Re: Florida Lookup - Help... Brick wall :-(
Here's the Florida Death Index entry that confirms the middle initial is L
and gives the same dates as the SSDI. It also gives the certificate number.
Between ordering the SS-5 and the death certificate, you should probably be
able to get a lot of info.
Florida Death Index, 1970-79
Name: Gordon L Walker
Place: Manatee
Race: W
Birth Date: 30 Dec 1920
Death Date: 14 Feb 1975
Certificate: 13375
