Thanks to the kindess shown on this newsgroup, Tara found a listing for
my mother's aunt, whom I had never heard mentioned by any of my
relatives. I have been looking for her death or marriage, as I haven't
been able to find her after the 1900 census when she was 13 (b. Feb
1887). There seems to be an entry at genealogy.com in the Indiana
deaths for someone by that name, but I don't have the subscription to
look it up. If someone could find this for me, I would truly appreciate
it. If this is my "Aunt Daisy" then she may have been young when she
died or at least was not married as she died with the name with which
she was born.

I don't mean to belabor the point, but if it were not for the kindness
of those in this newsgroup, I still wouldn't have the information
regarding my mother's family. You have helped so much I can't thank you
enough.

There are 2 listings that match that name. The first is definitely wrong but
I'm including it so that you know it's been checked.

Daisy May Harper found in:
Indiana Deaths, 1882-1920 Vital Records
Date: Jul 30, 1916
Location: Vanburen Township
Age: 13 yr
Sex: Female
Color: W
Source Location: City Health Office Washington, Indiana
Source Notes: The source of this record is the book H-21 on page 35 within
the series produced by the Indiana Works Progress Administration.

The age is wrong to be your Daisy. The second record looks pretty good.

Daisy May Harper found in:
Indiana Deaths, 1882-1920 Vital Records
Date: Jun 05, 1900
Location: Muncie
Age: 13 yr
Sex: Female
Color: W
Source Location: County Health Office, Muncie
Source Notes: The source of this record is the book H-5 on page 22 within
the series produced by the Indiana Works Progress Administration.

She's the right age to be your Daisy and in the right location. However, if
this is the person you're looking for, she died 3 days before the 1900
census and I haven't seen too many enumerators who could resist making a
note of that. They seem to love adding extra tidbits. Most of my family is
country tho', and this area is city, so maybe he was rushed and just putting
down the required info. There may be something scribbled out near the end of
Daisy's entry, but I can't read what it is and it doesn't seem to match up
with ink coming through from the other side of the page. I also noted that
Daisy only attended school for 5 months while William went for 9 months.
Maybe she was sick for part of the year? Anyway, maybe with this date of
death, you can order the record and it will have more info to help you
decide if it's her or not.
