Legg inn av Posi » 02 sep 2004 13:10:19

Hi,

Trying for first time!

I am looking for a Henry Stoneham who left NewYork bound for Australia.
Wife: Ellen Adams?
Period of 1830 to 1865. Have a child called William Stoneham in Sydney 1863.
Possibly could have been William Storum.
Shipping Records would help.

Any Help Thanks!

Michelle

Hi,

We have these details from Australia, but we are trying to find out where
they came from. Have family rumour that it was the USA? It is confusing,
because there is a Henry Storam and a Henry Stoneham, who lived very near
each other in Sydney (same street), and had the same occupation.
Ellen Adams could have been French?

Do you know if that the "Ancestry.com" WWW site is OK? They seem to want the
$$$, and the way they do things by asking for a credit card number looks
dubious. Especially for a 14 day free trail, then mandatory USD$189 per year
with no options.

Bill.

Thanks for this Michelle,

We are trying to work out where Henry came from. There is very little on
him.
We have William Stoneham (son) of Henry Stoneham and Ellen Adams. 26/5/1863.
No records of death or marrage certificates of both parents.
We wonder if there was a translation error Storum - Stoneham.
We have records that show a Henry Storum and Stoneham living in Goulbourn
Street, Sydney, with the same occupation. Slightly different number.

I was wondering if they came from the USA, as there is a vague family rumour
that they could be from there.

What is that ancestory.com WWW site like? They had one Henry Stoneham in the
correct time period.

Ask Tara (on this group) to have a look for the info, located on Ancestry
and see if she can check it out. I have used her to find alot of info for
me, on my US relatives. She is a great lady and extremely helpful.

Did you get my email that I sent you directly? There was a marriage, which
I sent thru to you, for Henry and Ellen dated 1865 in Sydney. This would
have made William illegitimate. Good luck and let me know if you need
anything else this end.
