Is anyone else having trouble getting data from the familysearch.org
website? It has been coming up as having maintenance for weeks now. Any
clues????
Thanks,
Nancy

I've been getting the maintenance message on 1880 census searches, but
everything else seems to work alright.

Yes, it was on the 1880 census. Sometimes it works if you don't filter
much, I think, but most times I can't get anything. Do you know if they are
planning to change over to it being a paid site? I sure would be
disappointed if that is the case.

Just keep trying. I had the problem last week, just kept hitting the search
button and eventually I got results.

Regarding this becoming a paid site - hardly likely.

Yes, on occasion I get a message that says something I am searching is "not
available at this time".

I doubt that there are any plans to change to being a paid site. That
would seem to go against what is a primary purpose for the existence of
the FamilySearch.org site: to facilitate the researching of their
ancestors by members of the LDS Church (as is true of the Family History
Library in Salt Lake City and Family History Centers at various Church
sites around the world). All of this is free to the public (except for
shipping/handling charges for microfilms, etc., ordered on loan from the
SLC FHL for FHC patrons).

Disclaimer: This does not represent a position of the LDS Church, the
LDS Family History Organization, or the Utah Genealogical Society. 8-)

Glad to hear you are all convinced it will not be a paid site. I would
dearly miss it. It is full of great information.

Oh, and here are a couple more details if you are doing an advanced search.
His middle name was Leo. I doubt he went by that but you never know. He
was born in MO. and she was born in IL. Both were white. Her middle name
was Lucille, which I doubt she used, too, but you never know.

Thanks again,
Nancy

I suspect it is an overload problem reported as a maintenance problem. I
just hit "Search" again until I get a result - I use the UK 1881 census.
