Otto III and St Adalbert (a connection?)

I was curious if there was any substance to the claim made my a Polish
author (T. Manteuffel) who claims that the Emperor Otto III and St
Adalbert of Prague were related. Maybe someone on this group has an
answer?-AM

IIRC Bruno von Querfurt wrote a legend, in which St Vojtech's father
Slavnik is described as "nepos" of King Henry (now usually identified
with Emperor Heinrich II. who + 1024, and not with Otto's
greatgrandfather King Heinrich I.)

The legend was published in:
"Sw. Vojciecha biskupa i meczennika zywot drugi napisany przez Bruna z
Kwerfurtu", ed. Jadwiga KARWASINSKA, Monumenta Poloniae historica,
Nova series VI, 2, Warszawa 1969, c. XI, s. 12, 51.

Some basic overview (taken from work of Dusan Trestik, in present most
eminent Czech historian of early medieval period) of various
hypotheses of Slavnikid genealogy can be found at:

Short summary - we do not know.

Yours,
Pavel
