The fact is , that judicially, the son is the son of the father - biology
may account for much, but the law makes the son 'de facto and de jure' the son
of the father - so what if the bleating hordes want to make a few bucks out of
a story that has been 'reproduced' so many times in living memory - it is
pure gossip, which does not have any scope wtihin the ambits of genealogy let
alone sensible and mature adults.

The people concerned were descendants of well known mediaeval people...

Unless we are discussing those medieval ancestors, then it is still off
topic. Virtually everyone in Europe has medieval ancestors, but that
does not mean that their intimate family details need be discussed here.

And to everyone - Off-topic material feeds on itself. Each additional
off-topic post makes others feel more comfortable and/or justified in
posting off-topic. This will eventually produce a morass, where the
majority of the posts have nothing to do with the topic of the group.
At least one poster here has already intentionally turned another group
into such a mess, and he would be perfectly happy if the same happens
here. If you actually want there to be a group that discusses medieval
genealogy, then it is important that you not help his efforts by posting
off-topic material or responding to the off-topic material he posts.
Modern politics, modern royal foibles, comparative constitutional
government, 19th century London murders, etc. is all out. As much as
you may disagree with it (or agree with it, or just want to talk about
it), please be considerate of everyone else here and sit on your hands
until the urge to respond passes. Likewise, don't insist on getting the
last word when you are arguing with a petulant child who is insulting
you. You may think that if you don't respond to his insults he wins,
but since his goal is to cause disruption and get attention, then he
wins when you do respond, and he will just insult you further until you
stop. Please, everyone - medieval genealogy (the genealogy of people
who lived in the medieval era).
