GDAY:)
Im in Australia Researching FITZHUGH Lineage from Ravensworth Yorkshire, Being a Direct Line
Have ADAM FITZHUGH Son of HUGH FITZHENRY, and AUBREY DE STEYNGRAVE(BRUMPTON)....Adam being born circa 1275..Adam From info i have one of 4 sons to them,,,John/William/Henry/Adam
Adam Fitzhugh went to Scotland was granted some lands GLENDONWYN, Married AGNES DE TOWERS, From then on Family Name changed to GLENDONWYN/GLENDONYING/GLENDINNING/CLENDINNEN/CLINDINNING/
CLENDENIN etc etc
I havent found much in the way of Sources tho stating Adam is indeed the son of Henry and Aubrey...There is some sources in book *HOUSE OF GLENDONWYN* re Adam, but ive Checked Other english books re this FITZHUGH/FITZHENRY/FITZRANULF etc etc families from Ravensworth in Yorkshire, but cant seem to locate Adam as a son.
Also I thought FITZ Meant SON OF, but got an email saying FITZ In front of surname means child born out of Marriage
Would Appreciate any help re this FITZHUGH Family, esp Adam Fitzhugh(GLENDONWYN)
Thankyou
Regards from Aussie.

I think the consensus is that he was probably not a son of Edward I.

Stewart Baldwin posted in 1998, referring to "The Parentage of John
Botetourt" by F. N. Craig, TAG 63 (1988) 145-53, which suggested that Guy
was his father:

Douglas Richardson posted some further evidence in support of this in 2002:

(Incidentally, the Complete Peerage originally stated that John's parentage
was unknown, but in volume 14 described him as a bastard son of Edward I.)
