Emma, England's first queen

Seaxburh was queen of Wessex only, and lived more than a century before the
problematical Eadburh's bad behavior cost later Wessex consorts the title of
queen.

I doubt the present Duke of Cornwall would listen very attentively to
arguments that his duchy is not part of the realm. What would become of the
Duchy Home Farm at Highgrove and all that organic produce?

I'd have thought Seaxburh, wife of Cenwalh had a fair claim. The
Anglo-Saxon Chronicles have her ruling roughly 662-3. To my mind ruling
comes a long way ahead of going through some ceremony.

As to Aethelstan becoming first king of all England because he
completed
the conquest of Cornwall - plenty of Cornish would tell you that Cornwall
never was part of England and still isn't.

Best,
Ken
