A certain Marco Frizier, son of M. Gasparo, notified in 1514 to have
properties in San Geremia (where he lived), and twelve houses in
Castello.
The arms of the citizen family, which originally had its deposit
("bottega") in Rialto, was the called "Albero d'Oro": "in una torre
con un albero al disopra, e due draghi l'uno per parte" (Codice 91,
Classe VII, Marciana).
According to Codice 939, the Frizieri lived in Chiogia, where they
were merchants of good condition, and due to the wars moved to Venice,
where they built many factories, and gave the relics of S. Magno to
the church of S. Hieremia.
A certain Francesco Frizier was elected Cancellier Grande in 1575.
According to the "Memorie concernenti le Vite dei Veneti Cancellieri
Grandi", he was from the Friziers of Castello. But according to other,
this Francesco Frizier was of another family, since he had a
completely different arms, described in Codici 91 and 939.
