Dear Newsgroup,
While checking a few websites, including Miroslav
Marek`s Genealogy.Eu page Lusignan 1, I found He has given Hugues VII, Sire
de Lusignan`s b 1065- d 1151 wife`s name as Sarrasine de Lezay b 1067- d 1144,
a couple of sites hugo-1-graf-von-lusignan for one say her father was a
Seigneur de Lezay and their son Simon de Lusignan succeeded to the Seigneurity
of Lezay. Does Anyone have further or contradictory information as to
Sarrasine`s origins ?
Sincerely,
James W Cummings

Her origins are unknown - there is no good reason I can see to connect
her with Lezay just because one of her younger sons held this particular
seigneury.

According to the usual account, a Geoffroy de Lezay, son of Josselin,
lost his lands for kidnapping some companions of King Louis VII, and
afterwards these were given to Saracena's husband Hugo VII de Lusignan.
His political value and/or his own relationship to the former holders
may have had more to do with this than his wife's ancestry.
