Is there any information about this Illegitimate son of Constantinos
Palaiologos (son of Andronikos II).
He was the outcome of an affair with Ms Katharos, the "Physiotherapist" of
his wife and took his mothers name.

Very few is know about him, so it would be imprudent to affirm that he
took his mother's name: what can be say is that the two historians who
mentioned him call him Michaèl Katharos. He was most probably born
before 1310 since in 1320 Andronikos II was allegely planning to make
him his heir. In fact, that is very difficult to believe: Andronikos
wanted to disinherit his grandson Andronikos the younger, but he had
plenty of princes of legitimate birth to pick as heir rather than a
bastard, above all his own sons from his second wife. Most probably it
was a goship invented by the followers of the young Andronikos.
Michaèl Katharos is not mentioned after 1320.

There should be a bit more about him, because you say "is not mentioned
after 1320", but the information I have (which I admit is questionable) says
that he died before 1380.

His mother's "job" was to look after the physical "health" or perhaps looks
of the Empress. I choose the word Physiotherapist, she could have been a
masseuse or "physical trainer".
She must have been physically very fit and I guess good looking
Anyway, Constantinos was married twice and to my knowledge had no children.
So he may have been desperate to have a son. (just a guess).
