Does anyone know if Anthony Lee who married Margaret Wyatt, the sister of
Thomas Wyatt called the poet, whose son was Henry Lee of Essex. Was the
ancestor of Richard Henry " Lighthorse Harry" Lee. Can someone recommend a
good source on the Lee Family. How could I search for Bishop Meade's History
of the Lee Family?

There is an article written some years ago that presents a credible case for
the family of Richard "The Immigrant's" being from Worcester, England.
National Genealogical Society Quarterly. Vol. 76, December 1988, No. 4.
pp.253-65.
"The Parents of Colonel Richard Lee of Virginia."
William Thorndale.
While much of the Lee family history has been assembled, there remain many
unanswered questions.

For Anthony Lee, I would start with the following:

The History of Parlement series contains articles on Bennet Lee
(1470-76), which, by the way, claims that the family is ancestral to the
Virginia Lees, although the comment is unreferenced and of dubious
accuracy), and in the more recently published set, to Sir Anthony Lee
(1510/11-49), of Quarrendon, his great-grandson.

The Lees of Quarrendon, by "F.G.L." in Herald and Genealogist, 3:113-22,
289-95, 481-89. (which discusses the origin of the family, its heraldry,
and gives a genealogical account)

and

Genealogical Notes on the Family of Lee of Quarrendon, by J. Henry Lea,
in The Genealogist, new series, vol. 8:226-32; 9:18-26, 157-61, 227-31;
10:71-8, 229-37; 11: 20-8; 12:186-92. (This contains transcripts and
abstracts of numerous relevant wills and ipms.)

Symonds/Symons/FitzSimon (was Re: Anthony Lee)

In pursuing some background material on Le Bateman's Lee question, I
came across the following quote (Herald & Genealogist, 3:286-7, Notes &
Queries section, "Alliances of the Family of Fitz-Simon alias Symonds
with 'The Lees of Quarrendon'", by J.G.F.):

"According to the pedigrees of the Suffield (Norfolk) and Yeldham
(Essex) branches of the Fitz-Simon alias Symonds family, it appears that
William Symons, of Wendron, Cornwall, (elder brother of Simon Symons,
rector of Taplow, Bucks, vicar of Bray, Berks, and prebendary of
Lichfield), . . . . (it then tells of a Symons of Cornwall/Symonds of
Norfolk intermarriage, and marriages of both families with the Lees of
Quarrendon. It then concludes) . . . The 'Symonds' pedigree, of which I
have a copy, having been made about 1587, when those marriages were but
of recent occurance, . . . . "

This would seem to suggest that there existed a pedigree (accurate or
not, perhaps the 1587 one mentioned) which links the families of Symonds
of Yeldham, Symonds of Suffield, and Symons of Hatt. I have located
pedigrees of each, (respectively in the 1634 [Harleian] Visitation of
Essex, the 1563/1589/1613 [Harleian] Visitations of Norfolk, and
Vivian's Visitations of Cornwall), yet I see no indication of a
connection among any of them.

Can anyone suggest the source/nature of this triple connection?
