Doug's new book, p. 640, says the following about Francis and Walter
Savage, ancestors of Anthony-1 Savage of Virginia:

15. FRANCIS SAVAGE, Esq., of Elmley Castle and Hardwick,
Worcestershire, Aston-sub-Edge, Chipping Campden, Gloucestershire, and
Tysoe, Warwickshire, Knight of the Shire for Worcestershire, son and
heir, born before 1524. He married by license dated 26 Nov. 1546 ANNE
SHELDON, daughter of William Sheldon, of Weston, Warwickshire, and
Beoley, Worcestershire, Receiver, Court of Augmentations, Knight of
the Shire for Worcestershire, Sheriff of Worcestershire, by Mary,
daughter and co-heiress of William Willington, of Barcheston,
Warwickshire. They had four sons, William, Esq., Walter, Anthony, and
John, and three daughters. FRANCIS SAVAGE, Esq., died testate (P.C.C.
32 Noodes) 19 August 1557. His widow, Anne, married (2nd) RICHARD
DASTON, of Wirmington, Gloucestershire.

16. WALTER SAVAGE, of Broadway Court, Worcestershire, 2nd son. He
married at Broadway, Worcestershire in 1581 ELIZABETH HALL, daughter
and heiress of John Hall, of Idlecott, Warwickshire. She was born in
1561. They had seven sons, Richard, Ralph, Charles, Anthony, Francis,
John, and Walter, and one daughter, Katherine (wife of John
Abbington). WALTER SAVAGE died in 1622. His widow, Elizabeth,
married (2nd) Simon Underhill, of Idlicote, Warwickshire, and died in
1648.
