The Dolfins, who lived at Castello, had as their arms three dolphins.
Originally called Delfina, descended from one of the Gradenigo, who
was nicknamed "Delfino", for being an excelent sailor.
Delfino D. was ca. 434 patriarch of Aquileia.
Daniele D. was a captain in the First Crusade.
Giacomo was a generale 1260 of 57 galleys against the Greeks, allies
of the Genovese, and later he was a captain against Ezzelino.
Angelo in 1329 was bishop of Venice.
Orso in 1361 patriarch of Grado.
Giacomo in the same year "provveditor general" in Albania, and then
"duce" of 37 vessels against the Greek corsairs, of which he took 6
ships.
Giovanni was elected "doge" in 1356 while he was "provveditore" in
Treviso, being under siege by the Hungarians, and at the front of 500
knights departed from Treviso to arrive to Malghera, where he was
received by the Senate.
Michele was in the same siege of Treviso and was a famous warrior; in
1370, 1371 and 1375 he was named "capitan general" of the Navy.
Leonardo was in 1392 bishop of Venice, and in 1401 patriarch of
Alexandria.
Zaccaria was captain in 1509 of Padua confronting the Imperial Army of
Maximilian.
Gian Pietro, who died in 1560, was bishop of Zante and Cefalonia.
Giovanni in 1563 was bishop of Torcello, and in 1579 of Brescia.
Zaccaria in 1565 was created cardinal.
Luigi was bishop of Canea, and died in 1587.
Giovanni was cardinal in 1603.
Dionisio, his brother, in 1606 was named bishop of Vicenza.
Giuseppe, nephew of Dionisio, in 1616 was bishop of Pafo.
Giovanni bishop of Belluno in 1626.
Another Giovanni in 1658 patriarch of Aquileia, and in 1667 cardinal.
Pietro Antonio in 1684 was bishop of Capo d'Istria.
Daniele defeated the Turks at Metelino in 1690.
Another Daniele in 1698 was bishop of Brescia, and in 1699 cardinal.
Dionisio in 1699 was patriarch of Aquileia.
Daniele was created a cardinal inel 1747.
