Knox, Dalzell, Dalyell

An old and very dear friend of us left me this morning
some papers (family notes, publications) on his
family. He is a ggson of Sir George Knox (I believe
that the `Sir' stems from a knighthood, not a
baronetcy) who was a judge in India, and through Lady
Knox he is descended from a branch of the Dalyell of
the Binns family (this branch adopted the spelling
Dalzell, I know, at the time of the redoubtable
general Thomas Dalyell of the Binns in the early 17th
century.

Can someone give me more input on these people?

All the best, fa

Bit late for Gen-Medieval?

There is no George Knox listed in W A Shaw's knights. I have come across
quite a few Knox's in Ireland, I think an Anglo-Irish family.

Hi. Although I am unable to provide you with any information at this time, I
would be interested in anything you gather on the Dalzell family. I am
researching that line.
