This may be of interest to listers with Pabenham ancestry.

Ralph Morin the younger, of Harrold and Morinsbury, Bedfordshire (ff
1217-1235) was the father-in-law of John de Pabenham (d 1269).

He appears to have been the son of an earlier Ralph Morin, who filled
various administrative posts under Henry II, Richard and John. He was
sheriff of Northamptonshire in 1184, an officer of the Exchequer in
1189, and an itinerant Justice in 1200 [Foss, 'Judges of England',
1848, p 97]. Additionally, he attended John in his expedition to
Ireland and acquired property in Dublin [K.J. Stringer, 'Earl David of
Huntingdon', 1985, p 139] and he served as Sheriff of Devon from 1201
[R. Bartlett, 'England Under the Norman and Angevin Kings: 1075-1225',
2000, p 215].

Some details of the elder Ralph's wife, and her ancestry, may be found
in 'Beyond Sherington: The Early History of the Region of
Buckinghamshire Lying to the North-East of Newport Pagnell', by A.C.
Chibnall, Phillimore's, 1979, p 151.

Here, we find that Ralph Morin the elder married Albreda, daughter and
heir of Robert de Braose (ff 1175), of Bramber, Sussex, and Bradwell,
Bucks, who was in turn the son of Payn de Braose by the daughter of
William de Blosseville. William's father, Gilbert de Blosseville, was
the Domesday tenant of Harrold, Beds. This accounts for the Morins'
subsequent interest in Harrold (see VCH Beds vol 3 sub Harrold).

The pedigree is thus:

1. Gilbert de Blosseville, ff 1086
2. William de Blosseville
3. (daughter), married Payn de Braose
4. Robert de Braose, ff 1175
5. Albreda de Braose, married Ralph Morin I, ff 1184-1201
6. Ralph Morin II, ff 1217-1235
7. (daughter), married John de Pabenham, d 1269

According to Chibnall, Payn's wife was Albreda de Blosseville; they
were married by 1130, when Payn is named in the Pipe Rolls in respect
of Blosseville lands (Beds Hist. Records Society pub, 1945, p 285)

4. Robert de Braose, ff 1175
5. Albreda de Braose, married Ralph Morin I, ff 1184-1201
6. Ralph Morin II, ff 1217-1235
7. (daughter), married John de Pabenham, d 1269

She afterwards married a second time, to Sampson le Fort, who founded
Harrold Priory - see VCH Beds, vol 1 sub Harrold Priory - which
confusingly seems to refer to her son as "Robert de Bruce" and links
him with the Scottish royal family. She seems also to have had an
illegitimate brother, Robert, who continued the Blosseville name in
Bucks/Beds.

4. Robert de Braose, ff 1175

6. Ralph Morin II, ff 1217-1235
