I have a distinct recollection that the baptismal name
'Jordan' was present at least once in the Hauteville
family of Sicily.
Emperor Frederick, having elder sons living (and some
dead, no doubt) with more frequent names of family
usage, may have felt that it's occasionally the turn
of Hauteville heritage to contribute to naming of
child.

To clue those who do not know or remember why
Hautevilles were a part of Frederick's ('Rogerius
Constantinus Fredericus') heritage: the Emperor's
mother Constance of Sicily (daughter of king Roger II
of Sicily) was heiress of the Hauteville dynasty, and
the reason why that particular emperor ruled over
southern Italy.
