E Warlop-deciphreing information

Legg inn av Louise » 2. januar 2008 kl. 6.55

Hello Again All & Happy New Year.
I was able to access Ernest Warlop's "the Flemish Nobility before 1300" and
thought I had photocopied relevant information regarding abbreviations.
I am wondering if someone more familiar than I can explain from AALST
pedigree as follows

Do they refer to another publication I need to access?
Thanks
Louise

1-Baldwin -
962 May 5 (LT, c.69,pp.75-76)
nob (DB,1,no.59(962,June 17)

2 Ralph
994,March 18 (DB,1,no 76)- 996-1029 (DB ,1,no. 83)

pedigree as follows

1-Baldwin -
962 May 5 (LT, c.69,pp.75-76)

'LT' refers to _Liber traditionum sancti Petri Blandiniensis_ edited by
Arnold Fayen (Ghent, 1906). No. 69 on pp 75-76 is the surviving fragment of
a charter of Arnulf I of Flanders, dated 5 May 962, that was attested by
Balduin as advocate of the monastery.

nob (DB,1,no.59(962,June 17)

'DB' refers to _Diplomata belgica ante annum millesimum centesimum scripta_
edited by Maurits Gysseling and Anton Koch, 2 vols (Tongres, 1950). No. 59
in vol 1 is another charter of Arnulf I for St Peter's abbey, dated 17 June
962, also witnessed by Balduin ("Signum Balduini aduocati", immediately
following the count's subscription, in both cases).

2 Ralph
994,March 18 (DB,1,no 76)- 996-1029 (DB ,1,no. 83)

No. 76 is a charter of Radbod, bishop of Noyon & Tournai, for St Peter's
abbey dated 18 March 994, witnessed by Raplh as advocate ("S. Rodulfi
aduocati"). No. 83 is an undated notice of the donation of Radgert and her
children to St Peter's abbey, written between 996 and 1029, subscribed by
Balduin IV as count and Ralph as advocate ("S. Balduuini marchysi. S.
Rodulfi aduocati."). These are the first and last occurrences found by
Warlop that he identified as this particular Ralph of Aalst.

3 Ralph
1031/34 October1 (DB ,1,no 90)-1052 (VL,1,no 129)

No 90 in _Diplomata belgica_ is a notice of the gift of Dagarada for St
Peter's abbey, dated 1 October without a year, written between 1031 and
1034, subscribed by Balduin IV and his son, along with Lambert and Ralph as
advocates ("S. Balduini marchysi. item Balduini filii eius. S. Lantberti
aduocati. Rodulfi aduocati.").

'VL' refers to _Chartes et documents de l'abbaye de Saint-Pierre au Mont
Blandin à Gand_ edited by Auguste van Lokeren (Ghent, 1868). No. 129 is a
charter of Reinewif and son Arnulf dated 1052 witnessed by Ralph and his son
Balduin ("Testes...Rodulfus Gandensis et filius eius Balduuinus"). These are
the first and last occurrences found by Warlop that he identified as this
succeeding Ralph.

nob (LT ,pp.105-106

No. 115 on 00 105-106 of _Liber traditionum_ is an incomplete charter of
Balduin V dated 24 July 1037, subscribed by Ralph in a group described as
noblemen ("Signum Baldwini marchysi qui hanc traditionem fecit et illustrium
virorum testimonio firmari petiit. Signum Heinrici comitis et fratris ejus
Lantberti [Henri I of Louvain and his brother Lambert]. Signum Theoderici
junioris comitis [Thierry III of West Friesland]. Signum Rodulfi...."
