OK. If anyone has access to this and would be kind enough to look it up,
here are a couple of names. I don't have a great deal of information
about my paternal grandparents though.
1. Ignatzio Bononno [Bonanno]
born: Nado, Sicily
died 1936, New York, NY
married to (first wife):
2: Grace Nicotra
born: [Italy]
died 1918, New York
I'm not sure when they got married or came over from Italy. I do know
that they were married here in NY, somewhere. My father had almost no
papers or memorabilia about his parents or relatives.
Grace had a brother named James who lived in CT.
Grace had a brother named Luigi who lived in NYC I believe.
Children of Ignazio and Grace were:
Mario Bononno (b. 1918) -- baptized at St. Boniface Church, 47th Street,
NYC.
Jenny Bononno (b. ~1915)
I know that Ignazio lived on the East side of Manhattan back then,
presumably around 48th - 49th Street and 2nd Avenue. He worked as a
bricklayer for a while if that's any help.
Thanks.

1930 NYC Census request

Re: 1930 NYC Census request
There's an Ignabio Bonanno living in an apartment on 48th Street,
Manhattan, in the 1930 Federal Census (spelling error on the part of the
enumerator):
Year: 1930; Census Place: Manhattan, New York, New York; Roll: 1562;
Page: 15B; Enumeration District: 628
Bonanno, Ignabio, Head, age 45, age at first marriage - 32, born Italy,
parents born Italy, no occupation, came to U.S.A. in 1904, AL.
Jennie, daughter, 13, born New York, parents born Italy, no occupation
Mariano, son, 12, born New York, parents born Italy, no occupation
Anthony, son, 10, born New York, parents born Italy, no occupation
They lived at 325 48th Street.
Keep in mind that the accuracy of things such as age and names were
dependent upon the knowledge of the person giving the information to the
enumerator - for instance, a neighbor could have provided the
information, or one of the kids even. So if the ages don't match what
you know them to be, that doesn't mean that this isn't the right family.
Hope that helps,
Cathy

Don't think I knew him. But Mario was baptized Mariano, so that matches.
Thanks very much. I know my aunt lived near E. 48th, probably close to
where she grew up.
