Man Mishandled was -: Pedigree of the early Kings of Man

Somehow I missed the original message, but I had a look at the website
mentioned. Immediately a few warning bells were ringing. Man going down that
line? Never.

Where did "Man" end? It went with the Earls of Derby. But let's start with
the 6th Earl of Derby.

William Stanley, 6th Earl of Derby, 1561-1641
father of
James Stanley, 7th Earl of Derby, 1607-1651
father of
Lady Amelia Ann Sophia Stanley
mother of
John Murray, 1st Duke of Atholl, 1660-1724
father of
Lord George Murray 1694-1760
father of
John Murray, 3rd Duke of Atholl 1729-1774

John Murray, 3rd Duke of Atholl, in 1753 he married the daughter of his
uncle and predecessor. Through inheritance they were sovereigns of the Isle
of Man; however, 1765 they sold these rights for 70,000 pounds stirling to
the Government, retaining the right to present the kings and queens of
England with two falcons on the day of coronation as well as manorial,
patronage and mineral rights.

With best wishes

Good work Michael.

Dear All

As some of you know, I have been spending a bit of time looking into
the curious case of a chap in Maryland who has set himself up online
as 'King of the Isle of Man'. He also sells "titles of nobility' at
special prices ranging from L30,000 to L90,000.

I have recently set up a website site looking at his claims - and
exposing them for the sham they are:

http://www.unrealroyal.com

This includes a page looking at his genealogy, because (of course) he
has been telling anyone who'll listen that he's the heir of the
Stanley family. [Guess what? He isn't].

He's not terribly big on 'evidence' but he does have an online
pedigree, citing 'Richardson, Douglas, Plantagent Ancestry, Baltimore,
2004.' to back up his claims :-)

If anyone feels like having a look at the pedigree page (which extends
back to Thomas, 1st Earl of Derby d 1504) and commenting on my
sources, statements or conclusions, I would welcome the same.

I have come across some other interesting and on-topic bits and pieces
which I shall try to post shortly.

Kind regards, Michael
