The Meaning of "Hr."

I have the following record. What does the Hr. stand for. Is it equal to a Jr.
or what? Found the record in the German archives.

WILKENSHOFF, G. Hr. 21 years old, wooden shoemaker, emigrated 1847 from Glane;

Hr. may stand for Hermann of Herzog or some other given name.
Maybe better post it in soc.genealogy.german.
